This is awesome Nick. i love this tune. you did an excellent job on this. my bass player knows Jerry Samuels. again great job. i really enjoyed this. hope all is well my friend
@0N33A5YWA1K7HR0UGH It is a funny one for sure. Yeah...if your having a tough day just think about the song...that should cheer you up and put a smile on your face...
Ahhh I remember this song from waaaay back in the day! Good cover - I noticed you played it open handed - practicing open hand or just a change of pace? This was such a silly song - but it got a lot of airplay on the radio back then.
@FL50DRUMR great question Ed...this was the most comfortable and natural position for me to play this particular beat. Using the traditional crossover method seemed strange to me on this tune. Actually in the song sounded like the quarter beat was played with a tambourine. I have one that I could have hooked up to the h hat but out of laziness I just played the h hat. ... Thanks for checking this looney tune out....a fun one that many probably haven't heard since '66....Nick
@readyeddy101 LUCKY YOU! No, I'm still in the cell. They just let me out every know and then to post a video, then lock me back up. If I'm good, they throw in a rat or two for me to gnaw on!
@7761864 Ha Ha...Yeah....just wacky songs that I come accross again and say "what the heck....good for laugh"....an insane song for an insane world...ha ha....There is another oddball one I will probably post up soon. I was also thinking of doing a drum cover of a Gordon Lightfoot song as I try to cover all the various genres of music I enjoy. I will be going through his songs and try to pick a classic that has some signature drum parts in it.....Thanks Brian for checking this vid out..Nick
@karenmuenchen Just a strange crazy novelty song from 1966. I was around 11 yrs old then. About a guy who lost his dog and was talking to it even though it wasn't there. So he thought somebody was going to take him to the an insane asylum (he called it the funny farm). The sover of the single record shows a person holding a dog leash but the was no dog there. Just the collar with no dog in it. It also showed a water hydrant to make you think the invisible mdog was probably relieving itself.
@readyeddy101 I don't think a man would have gone so crazy over a missing dog, I think it's about a significant other that left him and he's going crazy as a result (haven't we all been there?) "ASPCA" and "Mangy mutt" I think are brilliant ways of calling the woman who left him a bitch. I never heard that it was actually a literal dog though. Gives another interesting way of looking at the song!
