i think the biggest problem in the side or front playing discussion is that a lot of didges sold in the "western hemisphere" have a mouth piece with a diameter of 6 or 8 cm... but other didges only have about 3cm. this makes a difference in practicing i think.. on my didge (3cm. mothpeace) i can play front with cb too, but not on a bamboo didge with 8cm., i cant...
I am an Australian, with a white European background, and I have always marveled at the resilience and tenacity of our indigenous brothers, in their plight for equality, harmony and reconciliation.
Be proud and strong my indigenous brothers, for the people of this great nation will forever hold you within their hearts, as much as you hold the heart of this nation within your hearts.
I bought one and was able to play within 10 minutes. I used to play the trombone so I had a little advantage, but just keep trying it out... you will get there!
No. I have a normal thin lipped mouth and I learned CB in three days. Persevere, it seems impossible at first. Use a straw and a glass of water. You need to develop the muscle memory.
First of all I'm not your 'm8'. Second you are the dickhead for coming on here and spreading your ignorant closed mined hate to someone who is trying to be helpful. And actually I can circular breath and I can play any instrument I want. Ireland is a free country. Thirdly, learn to communicate properly and you might find that people will take you more seriously you baboon.
hahaha,, arsey,, ireland has rarely been a free country, heck,, they even fight from children to adults over who is a catholic and who is a protestant,, so fiddle dee dee potatoes to ya :)
@pigeonflipper i dare you to walk up to an irelander and say that to them, you ignorant, scared little ass. or just walk into a pub in wales, say that. you'll get your ass kicked by a number of nationalities.
quick question for you... I just started playing about 6 mo ago and was wondering what difference playing from one side of the mouth has on tone... I find it easier to play to the side but see most "masters" play to the front like larry here.
you will find that experienced Aboriginal players who have the didgeridoo as part of their traditional culture almost invariably play front-on, rather than on the side of the mouth. i think playing on the side might give a 'better' tone and could be more conducive to playing 'melodies'. however, the didgeridoo is a rhythm instrument and playing from the front gives more control of rhythmic patternings.
i reckon you find it easier to play to the side only because that is the way you started... had you played from the front at the very beginning it might be the case that you might say now that playing on the side is more difficult!
thanks for the reply (glad to hear the video again!! actually forgot about it)... the answer sounds bout right too. I play on the side(mainly) because I wear a moustache and cant get a good seal round the mouth piece front ways. I guess its not a major concern but I just want to play the best I can.
I thought playing from the side was supposed to be easier for circular breathing, and that only very experienced players could use the front of their mouths and continue playing, I find it almost impossible and think my mouth isn't built for that style of playing
I make and teach didgeridoo, and when it comes down to it, you just play the damn thing, front, side, whatever. Don't get hung up on technique.

THIS GUY IS A FRAUD!!!!
He's a bad Swede with a bad tan!!!!!
JUST KIDDING!!!.
This guy is GREAT (Wish I could play like that).
Respect to the Culture.
He probably learnt how to play the Didge 20 years ago, and his father learnt 50 years before then, and his father learnt 50 years before that.........
Well before my ancestors stripped him of his land and taught him the virtues of Alcohol.
And for that he and he's people EARN MY RESPECT.
Just give me back my sunnies Bro!!
