I tried to do it my self but I stripped one the screws in the sides they are to hard to get out and now is stock in there, cant install my 80 gb ssd any ideas what to do?
@point6000x no. not my point. my point is there is no point in buying a huge ssd when you can buy external storage and use fw800 or for pc's use usb 3.0. even now they have a set up that uses the thunderbolt port (its expensive as shit) but what i am trying to say keep your internal an ssd with less memory (cheaper) and your external with more memory (hdd) so your not breaking the bank.
@Bogie3Flare you have to use the disc that came with the computer to reinstall. or buy snow leopard. You can make a backup of the old hard drive and recover after snow leopard is installed.
Speed improvement is almost guaranteed as long as you go with a good manufacturer, and are ready to spend some cash. the good ones at 32gb start at around 250 dollars. with read/write's of 200mb/s +.
Are you DUMB-???

Awesome stuff, going to get myself a Vertex 120GB, only costs 270, this is 400 for another 60 GB.
SSD = Faster Boot and quicker loads on everything.
SSD = better battery life (Though only about 5%)
SSD = Lower heat (Though you can't really tell that either)
SSD = Way less change of failure (it's basically a RAM hard drive)
SSD = Sell your fucking house to buy one

2TB HDD ~ 160€
2TB SSD ~ 4000€

@point6000x just dont buy a tb internal ssd. use an external with fw800 and you'll be fine.

@bdodds1985 Well im thinking about gettin a 240GB vertex 3 for system + programs and a 1TB spinpoint f4 for data + possibly some USB-drives.

Hi there, how did you manage to update the firmware on a nvidia-based Mac??? according to Intel, this is mission impossible..

Do you always have to update the firmware?

Any difference in the heating of the SSD versus the HDD ? Cooler or warmer ?
CasperBHansen 2 years ago
SSDs are lower in heat production. But by very small degrees
