"Wash your hands, Roger . . . wash your hands, Roger . . . " Finally, when he was 18, Roger could take no more and bought a high-powered rifle with a scope and went up in the bell tower at the local college and began firing on innocent passers-by. Unfortunately, our Rog wasn't very bright because he forgot to load his rifle; regrettably, his raging OCD robbed him of any common sense he had, and he was easily apprehended by the local cops.
Back in the day I heard people would ingest a small amount of Lava to mask/fool a urine/drug test. For those who lived, the tests would come back negative/clean. That's how STRONG the soap was! In a pinch it could also be used for carpentry (as sandpaper/for sanding wood). It was worth the $, as It really had a plethora of different uses! Great stuff! BTW, didn't LAVA soap have or sponsor a racing team/car or a dragster or something? I swear I remember "The Lava Car"?
I remember Lava from my childhood. It definitely got ya "clean". By clean I mean, it also took off a few layers of skin, along with any trace of dirt/filth. Sniffing/smelling the bar in an overly aggressive manner tended to really do a job on your nasal passage/lungs. In other words, IT #&@$ing BURNED! LOL! This was 1 soap you didn't want your mouth washed out with! It left ya literally unable to swear (or speak (think HOT pepper + acid) If you got it in your eyes, Instant blinding!
Procter & Gamble used to manufacture Lava soap (their famous radio "signature" was a booming basso voice chanting, "L-A-V-A, L-A-V-A..." on "THE FBI IN PEACE AND WAR", which they sponsored over the years); today, the WD-40 Company markets it...and let me tell you, Lava is not an ordinary "hand soap". As 'vitaman' said, it's gritty...AND it's coarse. If you REALLY want to wash your hands, that's the one you use!
I love 60,70, & early to mid 80's commercials. I like to splice them into movies & TV shows from the same era. Sometimes I will even splice some TV News clips & footage in there too. Gives it a total retro feel. I break out the Atari 2600 or Intellivision, make some Jiffy Pop, & *Kaboom!* it's like a total retro-time warp. I call it "70's night" (or 60's, 80's, nite, etc) Wish I had an orange shag carpet & a lime green sofa/couch & an old RCA or Magnavox console TV set to go with it all.
@lcvd1 I am still working on my retro-TV programs (splicing in classic/retro commercials & news footage into TV shows & movies). I forget if it was you or not who was interested in the finished "product"? There were a few people on here that are/were. Just thought I would check with you to see.
my dad used to work in a auto shop and they used this on there hands it was gritty as hell and VERY drying! but! it got the grease off like butter! i wonder if the still make it? it was back in the 80's
Right, but you need the goose grease to go on first, then the lye soap to wash off the goose grease, and then corn starch to take away the sting of the lye soap. :)
Today, you'd get a visit from CYS.

Poor Roger...he gets it from everyone in the family...even the announcer. Totally dysfunctional family. Poor Roger.
