  • makes me feel alive when i play this groups music wish i could back in time

  • El amor es como el oxígeno, obtienes mucho, obtienes poco, si no obtienes lo suficiente te mueres. El amor te lleva alto, el amor es como el oxígeno.

  • @atrejutipokmop exactamente!!!!!!!!!

  • Mucho hits from this band, "Little Willy" and "Ballroom Blitz" are my favs but I forgot about the extended album version of this song. Most FM stations in the 70's only played the single version.

  • 3:15 to 5:00 is fucking brillant!

  • @seriousbe That's absolutely true!!!!!

  • you've heard The Devil's Blood?

  • ..." ya get too much ya get to high, not enough and you're gonna die" Oh how true!

  • YES I always like the not cut off lp version and Yeah it kind of is like ELO. 10+

  • Excellent!!

  • omg, i've never heard this extended version. it's so beautiful.

  • I always thought this was E.L.O.

  • RIP Brian and Mick. I love the Sweet.

  • I LOVE Sweet and this song! And of course, Ballroom Blitz!! This is the best version. Lots longer!

  • Fine example of 70's Glam/Pop Rock. Nice footage. Thanx.

  • I HAVE LIVED WRONG, I WAS SURE THIS SONG BELONGS TO ELO, NOW I SEE IS NOT TRUE. SORRY SWEET, THANKS YOU TUBE. I WANNA DIE. ¬¬

  • @MrOdelay72 Yes, this song sounds like ELO, I guess ELO liked the way The Sweet sounded, since The Sweet was before ELO.taking nothing away from ELO they are an awesome band.

  • Man, it's hard to believe Brian has been gone almost 15 years. :-(

  • Me gusta mucho!!!

  • Sweet really was a great band. Quite under-rated. I mean what kids really know about them, but they had a lot of hits. This is one of my favourite. Joan Jett actually does a pretty good cover of AC/DC - check it out.

  • #слухаю There is no life without love) Classical song performed by Sweet.

  • this song and i have something in common...I also have the 12" long version

  • @jabom99 I hope the ladies are paying attention.

  • easy to forget how truly great they were, brilliant track!

  • I always thought this was ELO. It sounds like them.

  • @DarcMac - As did I. It's listed in my MP3 collection as ELO too. :O

The guitar sound is not ELO, but vocals yes.

  • this midlepart on classic guitar is GREAT!

  • Got the original 7" but first heard this version around 1981 on Radio Merseyside as played buy Roy Norrie. The stupid get faded it it for going on too long (what do you expect of a 12" single) but happily for long enough to record the fantastic instrumental bits betweek 4.22 and 5 minutes. The climax between 4.40-and 5.00 is fantastic and unsurpassed by anything before or since.

  • Love is really like oxygen

  • I think this song covers every genere of music there is in one song up to its current date of music: from a classical sound all the way to rock and disco of the era. One of the finest songs of its time

  • haha 12'' long version made me lol i have a rude mind

  • ESTUPENDA CANCION, CARACTERISTICA DE LOS 70´S.

  • this music rocks.cool guitar

  • I love the guitar at the beginning.

  • Exeleeeente cancion ,me encaaaaaantaaaaaa!! lml

  • ahh, yes.....another bitchin' tune i useta like as a kid.

  • THANK GOD FOR BANDS LIKE "SWEET!" WE GREW UP ON THE BEST!!! YOU GUYS OTTA BE COVERED FOR THE LOVE!!!

  • y algunos pensaban que era de ELO electric light orchestra

  • Love it! Honoured to have been listening to it when it first came out, and to have owned the single on vinyl! :D

  • M A G N I F I C !!

  • no mamaes siempre pense que era un grupo de mujeres

    jajajaja pero que buena rola!!!!

  • Freaking magnificient !

    This is ROCK and ROLL

  • this song is fucking amazing!

  • Great song!! this theme rememeber me Led Zeppelin`s style... its a musical poem...

  • they have always reminded me of 10cc.

  • superb - even stephen malkmus is covering it now -

  • Sounds like ELO. Damn, for years I thought it was ELO.

  • @orinemma I always thought this was Supertramp

  • 5:04 it comes again better than it was befoooooore !

  • man I listen to this all through High School, what great bands back then

  • Thanks for the great song guys and thanks for the great memories.

    50 people are total dweebs.

  • Very good

  • Gotta love that classical bridge.

    Awesome awesome.

  • If there was ever a need for a "love" button, this is it!

  • That's a Gibson Firebird, I believe.

  • WHY HASN'T THIS SONG BEEN COVERED????

  • Comment removed

  • @1know1know ...and being ruined? NO!

  • @1know1know That is a very typical question in this era.. I ask you- does it need to be? if so, why?

  • @hankCchinaski It doesn't NEED to be, but it tends to happen out of respect and love. As it hasn't, it signifies the opposite to me. It would make more sense for a iconic song like Sweet Home Alabama (whose covers are awful, but well-intended) than a basically obscure song like this one that I haven't heard on the radio since the seventies. It would bring it back into awareness, hence respect with the current generation.

  • It was 1979, if I don't go wrong. I was 14. I left my hair on this song!!! ;-)

  • how about a thumbs up for that EPIC breakdown!!!!!!!

  • Heard this on Direct TV channel 804-- 70's classics today. TY DIRECT TV FOR CHANNEL 804!!

This is an amazing song and SO not remembered in any "flashback" tv or radio shows now. If I've watched it once today, I've watched it 50 times....

BUT, I would also like to add:

did a little research-- always had an instinct the mullet came from Britain, eg, Def Leppard, but seems like it started earlier. *insert this vid* SO, we SOUTHERNERS are not responsible. Thank you!!! :)

    --an Alabama girl :D

  • I LOVE THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS! THANKS FOR LOADING XXXXXXXXXX

  • 50 IDIOTS NEEDS OXYGEN TO THEIR BRAIN & FAST...!!!

  • literacy may help to make your sentence sound more convincing - quick someone get him an oxygen mask before his last brain cell dies!

  • @kink66.. I was just going to post a similar comment when I scrolled down to see yours

  • The really cool thing about music is its ability to take you back to how you felt when you first heard it - the "top 40" get overplayed and your brain doesn't do it, but certain unique pieces (like this one for me) make me forget how old I really am, pain and the way life makes you feel like a overaged piece of cheese. I know these guys are old now, too, but we can both be young when I watch/listen to this great song. Thx to hakkman2007 for posting the "long" version" - long live album rock!

  • Toatally agree

  • My teacher randomly played this song during our science class last year.

  • Great tune that I had no idea of until a few years ago and had originally thought was some sort of lost ELO song with their sound. Nothing can touch the classic rock sound even though I like many genre's of music it will always be around and inspiring future generations!

  • SO GLAD WE GREW UP ON THIS STUFF!

  • @Xenobia10 You are sooo right. I've passed this on to my daughters, who have their own tastes, but love the good stuff. Like this.

  • Amazing this is the same band who had struck Gold with 'Willy'. Quite a range these blokes had!

  • @Jgeneraledger23 Well, the boys were toys, kinda like the Monkees. Similarly, they took matters into their own hands and began to write on their own. I loved "Little Willy" when I was a kid. I loved their own stuff better when I was a teen.

  • One of the best guitar riffs of all time.

  • their best

  • Awesome Band! Love!!

  • epic

  • midsection sounds like the one trick pony of mike oldfield, still love slade ,shame about the split , o and yes he was relateded to the guy who played taggart

  • Love this tune so much, thanks for letting me hear the full length version for the 1st time =D

  • Thank You. An alltime favorite. Perhaps I should spend a few hundred hours learning some simple guitar playing and perhaps end up being ale to plays this song...

  • Temaaazo, tiene todo lo que debe tener una canción.

  • Love it...

  • Esto si es musica no las mamadas que oigo hoy en dia

  • 12' vinyl was called an EP or extended play still set ya turntable to 45rpms though

  • No song ever sounded quite like this. This is classy classic rock. Will love this tune till the day I die. The entire album "Level Headed" is legendary. Every track is imbedded in my soul. It's like a time machine to me. It will always be 1978.

  • @rocknjerr Thank you. It used to be musicians making music. I don't know what the hell's goin on these days.

  • 4:25 - 5:00 is totally original sounding.. Not the that the rest of the song isn't...its just that it strikes me as particularly awesome.

  • que linda musica de the sweet, sobre todo la version completa . cada ves q estoy triste me escucho esta musica para matar la tristeza

  • I love the intermezzo part of the piece where band does some instrumental variations. That is so very rare to listen to a group that has that freedom to experiment like that..

  • This long version RULES !! Love the song just as much now as then ... !

  • Summer of '78....great memories

  • I was at a backyard BBQ in the summer of '78 at my cousin's house and this song came on the radio...man, the next week I had to go out and get the record. Such a great jam.

  • 70's metal !!!! Yeah....70's and 80's, best time EVER !

  • can u believed that it played on one of Kuala Lumpur's radio station and brought back so many memories. This song still rocks after 30 over years..........hope they will remaster Sweet's Greatest Hits.

  • Edith

  • when did the bassist from spinal tap start playing lead guitar

  • TheSeminole13: "when did the bassist from spinal tap start playing lead guitar"

Love is like my big bottom!

  • About 47 dislikes don't believe in love, so they say that hate is like oxygen that they could easily breathe. In other words, hate is like poison gas.

  • brilliant song. by the way this is the album version not the 12". they never released a 12" version.

  • ok!!!!!!!

  • clásico de clásicos la versión extendida es única inclusive se ha interpretado esta versión con la orquesta sinfónica en mi país Ecuador es excepcional super tema

  • I don't need oxygen, I have Eva

  • Some songs are just classic! ... this being one of them

  • Awesome song - I love that middle part, especially love listening to it during autumn as the sun is going down, casting long shadows... it's perfect.

  • The very best song ever!!!

  • great stuff thnx man!

  • My uncle was a well known d.j. and got "promo" albums and this was the first I received from him ! WOW....changed my life and set the standard for every other band I ever heard. What an awesome F@#$ing band !!!

  • JUST A MASTERPIECE OF PROGRESSIVE ROCK.

  • WOW thank you, i'd never heard this version

  • life is ill

  • R.I.P. Brian 14 long years now but never forgotten.

  • Wonderful as Child In time and Stairway to heaven! R.I.P Brian and Mick.

  • I WISH the band Disturbed would remake this song...it would be KILLER!

  • HAKKMAN2007? Thank you very very much for posting this temendous song and everyone else that posts anything by Sweet.

Play their music for those that know not who Sweet "is".

They should never be forgotten and should be brought to the highest level of respect that they deserve.known for the tremendous impact that they made and influence that they had on countless groups that followed.

Their contribution to R&R has not been recognized as I think it should.

  • Never will i 4get this beautiful song, i'm 51 still listening to this song. How i wish i cud turn back the clock. Still remember i hv those hair just like Brian Connolly in the 70s & early 80s. Thats was the greates moment of all time!!

  • this song is one of the greatest songs on the history of music.

and imo... the best "Sweet" song.

    This is a masterpiece.

  • If you crank this song up...it blows your mind! Try it!!!

  • Good song

    Buena canción

  • originally known as the sweetshop a prog rock band of the 60's and early 70's this track being from the prog rock era and not a glam rocky release it was reissued in the 70's at their peak

  • I think that this song is the most brilliant example of how all the '70s big Rock bands become pop afterwards..It's a good song but it doesn't sounds like Rock !!

  • EESSCCUCCHHEENLLAA CCAABBRROONNEESS.

  • This song is the true band, they were talented and are sadly missed.

  • @MrFloxed i disagree with your comment quen were and are a brilliant band they are however no where near the sweet they wern't even around when the sweet were starting in the 60's as a prog rock band it was only in the glam rock era they became well known they were originall the sweetshop queen couldn't tie their laces

  • @MrFloxed my uncle "andy scott" is still alive you know! xx :-)

  • Re;A Previous poster- i don't think Sweet match up to Queen...in either their quantity or quality of songs..great band though..and i had completly forgotten this song.....it's so catchy ive been humming all through work the last 72hours......

  • sweets' best! man do i miss the '70's.

  • sweet is so under rated it ain't funny.

  • i always loved this song, found it on my earphones flying over north america (fm) on board an Royal Air Force troop carrier (VC10), we were en-route to a 'Belizean disturbance'..from england jwb

  • not to be stupid...which i am..but wow..i forgot this song...im new to the computer..insane..this..is here..like i said..wow

  • @Simon4642 welcome

  • What ever happened to AOR??

  • @rschiel50 As ex-FM radio AOR DJ...Why AOR radio died...Affirmative Action in 70s! FM radio DJs up until then KNEW the music; programmed their own shows; had to pass test for FCC license. After AA passed stations had to hire minorities to fill quota who did not know the music or pass FCC test...so PLAYLISTS were made and test waived, to make idiots who only had "the right voice" play "hits," since they could not be trusted to pick the right songs to play. This DESTROYED AMERICAN FM RADIO! Sad.

  • @mc2NY Even the notion that someone decides the "right or wrong" song disturbs me....I guess I was always the person that liked the "other' songs on the album-not necessarily the requisite hits...Nowadays everything we hear on the radio is predetermined by demographics, statistics and money...it all sounds the same. My kids think I'm crazy, but I'd rather listen to my records on a turntable...But when I was their age I lived for FM radio! My how things have changed...

  • @mc2NY Amazing info.I'm from Boston originally.I think WCGY was the AOR station.I might be mistaken.Any how,I think they still played AOR in the 80's.Where can I learn more about the info you gave? How can we bring back great rock from the past on the radio again.Go ahead, laugh.I just think more youth should be influenced by great songs & musicianship and what this actually means.

  • They must have influenced ELO (electric light orchestra) & Queen.

  • Outstanding!

  • i miss music like this

  • Anybody know why Sweet isn't in the Hall of Fame? Think about it good question?

  • You say Bruno Mars, I say Guns'n Roses You say Hannah Montana, I say Led Zeppelin You say Owl City, I say Metallica You say Jonas Brothers, I say Queen You say Taylor Swift, I say AC/DC You say Justin Bieber, I say Fuck You 95% of teens these days listen to the same formulaic, crappy pop over and over. If you're one of the 5% who still listens to real music, thumb this up, then copyand paste it to at least five videos. Don't let the spirit of rock and roll die!

  • @kenngua well said mate

  • never a truer word spoken lol

  • @kenngua ROCK 'LL NEVER DIE !

  • @kenngua Although I totally agree with you, you don't gotta be a hardcore hater man. People have and always will like simple shitty poppy music. I say let em. Keep the good stuff for those who know.

  • @kenngua Or trend metal like listening to bands that sell t shirts at hot topic in the shopping malls.. Or the lil bastards that hang out at guitar center.. ha! They are misguided but their humble ignorance is kinda cool after youve bashed on their guitar playing GnR 'slosh' metalica death metal tshirts, are actually quite plesant to talk with and very receptive to playing little wing, tough lil bastards sometimes, i cant walk into the guitarded center without fuckin with em ha!

  • this is one song that will always be important to me the first song i liked being pulled from the inner city of phila. to Lock haven

  • what a tune but i thought this came off desolation blvd. a lot of the forgotten 70s music cant get air play on today's junk radio damn I miss those days people were happy and most of us were well off enough to do whatever we wanted without government interference now its all about drug test discrimination and how much money you've got and stupid gangsta (c)rap

  • This band was the perfect combination of Supertramp, Queen and Roxy Music. They were all weaned on Classical Music and it shows. These days are very sad, they can't even sing a major scale.

  • got every one of there albums .seen them live many times . ace .... wot is todays music compared to this ??? bollocks , thats wot ... give me a time machine ...PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • so they say size does not matter lol but it does in the case of this song with it being a 12" long version such a great song by a great band

  • @MsRuth02 It is indeed a great song - and The Sweet were a great band (they were certainly much more talented than the rock media gave them credit for). The same was true of Mud and The Bay City Rollers.

    God rest Brian Connolly's soul.

  • LOVE IS LIKE OXYGEN ,IS MY FAV SONG BY THE SWEET ,ALSO ADMIRED BRIAN CONNOLLY,S HAIR

  • It always makes me laugh when I hear people say Sweet sounds a lot like (insert random band) The fact is that those bands sound like Sweet. Sweet was first and they had some influence over other emerging bands. Certain similarities can be heard in older Queen songs because they both had the same guy as a producer at one point. Def Leppard covered "Action" when they were at their peak.

  • @genepoolshallow DEF LEPPARD DID DO A VERY GOOD COVER OF SWEET,S ACTION DEF LEPPARD ARE STILL ROCKING THEY ARE ONE OF MY FAV ROCK BANDS

  • great tune!

  • I've actually seen Sweet, though most of the original members weren't there. Problem is that I was too young to realize who they were.
