Oh dear god your poor tyres. And bravo to him, much better then my first attempt at driving a manual (though that isn't hard, I stalled it before I even took off about 5 times then gave up. I was probably about his age, too). Hell, it's probably better then my driving now, in an auto. I'm 17 and there is no way I would try driving like that (not to mention my mum would kill me for the previous noted tyre issue :P). Granted, I drive on roads, I never had the privilege of an empty parking lot.

just a thing you should teach him is the correct driving position!! RIGHT AWAY, before he's used to the wrong one

f.e. arms should not be stretched when you hold the wheel, this to make it less hard to turn, and also you can turn faster with your arms bent.. which in turn is good if you want to control a slipping car

good man, everyone should learn to drive with a manual transmission. Here in England if you pass your test in an automatic then you are only licensed to drive an automatic but if you pass in a manual then you can drive both. having an automatic only license is a handicap lol
