  • Best scene in this amazing movie!

  • Windswept Fields is the least appealing name for a tennis court. It's great.

  • Wes anrson

  • correct me if i'm wrong, but i think one of the announcers is jason schwartzman :)

  • @acrookedskyline "I think you're right."

  • schwartzman means blackman

  • I've never seen anything like this...LOL

  • LOL. I thought this was real..

  • My favorite scene of the movie. Thanks for uploading!

  • The commentators sound like Wes Anderson and Owen and Luke Wilson's brother, but yeah it also could be Jason Schwartzman. Awesome

  • @Driscol no, its Andrew Wilson and Wes Anderson

  • the commentating is what makes this scene

  • i love love love this movie! and richie :)

  • The Baumer, what a hero!

  • its Wes Anderson and the "other Wilson brother" doing the commentary.... I love this scene. "he's just taken off his shoe and one of his socks..."

  • epic

  • haha, i think ur right man! never noticed that before.

  • yeah and owen wilson right???!

  • i just noticed that toward the end! it is him i believe :)

  • Oh shit never noticed that, it is him.

  • Nope :)

Wes Anderson and Andrew Wilson provided the voices for the commentators during Richie Tenenbaum's tennis match. Many viewers thought it was a cameo from Jason Schwartzman, star of Anderson's previous film, Rushmore (1998). Also, the Wilson brothers all have similar sounding voices, therefore many people think that it is Owen Wilson providing the voice of the second commentator. Anderson also plays bass on the reggae in the initial sequence.

  • and if you want to see more action of andrew, watch bottle rocket, where he plays futureman.

  • I might be mistaken, but does Andrew also play the cousin who chops Margot's finger off?

  • @jusfint yes

  • @meinerHeld I thought it sounds like Wes Anderson and Owen and Luke's brother.

  • @meinerHeld I thought it was Wes Anderson and Owen and Luke Wilson's brother, but yeah it also could be Jason. Awesome

  • @meinerHeld no its wes... you schmuck

  • @meinerHeld Negative. The announcers are Andrew Wilson and Wes Anderson (who sounds like JS)

  • @meinerHeld it does sound like him, but its actually the one and only wes anderson

  • @meinerHeld I was literally just thinking that.. And the other is Luke and Owen Wilsons borther dont know his name but he was in bottlle rocket.. I didtn look this up either im just using my ears and prior knowlegde

  • 0:35 LOL

  • Probly because that's actually them.

  • it's Wes Anderson and Andrew Wilson

  • Andrew Wilson being the Coach in Rushmore.

  • Andrew also being the older brother of both Owen and Luke.

He does sound a LOT like Owen.

  • what's great about this scene is it actually develops the character, shows that he was heartbroken that his stepsister got married and yet does it in a hilarious way.

  • it's also great how oblivious everyone is to his pain. they act like he's just having a bad game of tennis...

  • It's actually cool that his had happened for real, with Björn Borg, a swedish Tennis Player, which Richie is based upon. Spectactular.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • LOL, Gandhi. But it's actually accurate and not far fetched, back in the 70's and 80's there were some good Indian tennis players who were right up there with Borg, the player who Richie Tenenbaum is based on. Now there aren't any, but back in the wood era there were some pretty talented ones.

  • i love how sad/funny this is. the music is perfect. Nobody wants to sit next to Royal and mostly everyone in the crowd is just appalled by how badly Richie is doing, but not really worrying that he's crying and missing articles of clothing.

  • Esta es un extraña a la par que increíble escena de amor

  • This is one of my favourite scenes from the movie and would have been a really interesting shoot. Come on people, India, tennis? And named Gandhi? That's so funny in itself. Windswept Fields! Ha. Damn good movie.

  • what city does the movie take place in

  • New York.

  • i think your right. LOOOOOL

  • loool "actually i think he's crying"

  • i play tennis, and everytime I start to lose really bad, I take off both of my shoes, one sock, and I start to cry a little, and it usually pumps me up so fucking much that I literally can't be beat after that

  • im with you man, LOL

  • @turdferguson2 i'd die of laughter if i ever saw that display. classic!

  • above the comedy in this moment, i love the image of Royal sitting all alone with the wings above him, as if he's a guardian angel or something.

  • One of the tennis announcers (Jim) is the directer and writer of this movie, Wes Anderson.

  • I think the other one is Andrew Wilson, Owen and Luke's brother.

  • Yep, Wes and the Owen brothers collaborate quite a bit (or used to, anyways). They all met at U of Texas

  • I just went across the street from this Tennis Club this morning to get a parking pass cause we just moved to this neighborhood. The stadium is looking pretty old, but the courts still look good. Crazy!?

  • for anyone who doesn't know, the second commentator, Tex Hayward (haha), is Luke & Owen's older brother Andrew. For some reason I always get a kick out of him saying "I don't know, Jim, there's obviously something wrong with him", then of course the sad but funny line "He's taken off both his shoes and one of his socks... and... actually, I think he's crying..."

  • Andrew also plays Margot's real father who accidentally chops off her finger.

  • My second favorite line in the movie is "He's taken off both his shoes and one of his socks." My favorite? "Wildcat was written in an obsolete vernacular. Wildcat. I've gotta get out of here."

  • my favorite lines were "I'll bet you don't even know my middle name.." "that's a trick question, you don't have a middle name." "Katherine (or whatever it was",,,and then

    "that was my mother's name."

  • It's, Helen

  • That is actually my fave line too. Helen, is actually my mother's name too.

  • yeah now i remember..

  • funniest scene in the film!

  • My screename on aim is

    ONESOCKBAUMER

I found out that wes Anderson was commenting after I made the screen name?

  • why did you choke that day baumer?

  • idk i just did

  • omgosh thats so sad, btw i didnt know that that was Wes Anderson speaking as one of the announcers until i heard the commentary

  • You're very welcome, glad you enjoyed it =)

  • thanks
