This is male figure skating should be. Three perfect quads, two in long program and one in short program and two out of three are 4-3 combination. Most of male figure skaters today don't get the guts to even try quad. It is a huge step back. New rules should raise more points for quad jumps to encourage skaters to try. It is not male figure skating if there is no quads there. You wanna see some flexibility with out quads and trip Axels. Go watch girls.
@murasakimidori2011 so sexist, and a disgrace to the name midori...when midori pushed the envelope for 3 axel, people said, hey, leave it alone, only the men should do that...i agree the quad is important, but it doesnt MAKE it a men's competition...go back to the 90s where u had the boring quad king elvis, who couldnt even spin well or had basic skills...
Chan did great on the quad combo but fails on almost everything else. WHY the judges and commentators this time is so lenient? Oh, because he is Canadian. This guy had stuck up comments towards the 3 times world champion and the quad 4-3-3 legend Plushenko. He said Plushenko's opponent is his role model rather than plushy and he won THIS time because he did this quad combo and his swirling arms sit spins move. hmm..He might never get a chance if Plushy is here! I guess ISU knows that!BTW boring!
@thequadlegend I'm not sure what world you live in, but in figure skating, jumps aren't everything. Patrick's artistic talent is amazing, and his footwork is frickin' brilliant. His artistry isn't made up of contorting into poses for the crowd, either, and that's mainly what I've seen from Plushenko. He's not arrogant, and he's GOOD LOOKING."Plushy" has multiple issues with his jumps (ie, landings are GROSS), there's not much artistry, and I always feel like he's angry with the crowd. =/
He did pretty good on quad combo and pretty much fails on all other spins. Once again how come the judges and commentators are so much more forgiving now? Oh, because he is Canadian. Complete package? This guy made comments after Olympics interview, that Plushenko isn't his role model while Plushenko is THE pioneer in 4-3-3 combos and now his win THIS time is to try to intimate Plushy, think about that!
"Chan did great on the quad combo but fails on almost everything else."
@thequadlegend Um, what program where you looking at? Patrick's only mistake in this program was stepping out of a single triple axel. Triple/Triple sequence with a half loop late in the program, jumps distributed throughout the program, extremely difficult step sequences and spins. This program was scored fairly under the scoring system. Look up the protocols and make your case. Otherwise you just sound bitter.
@DarrenInCA failed attempt of the triple axel and he failed quite miserably this time. That's other flaws and music are quite boring there. He did very well on his attempt on quad and sit spins. Again improvements on quad jumps he is trying to achieve; if that's not the highest technical level why would he practices so hard to put this on this competition? He just doesn't deserve that high the point. what a joke!
Amazing, what a cutie, "complete package" as the commenter says for sure

Beautiful skate! Choreography? Meh. Music? Cliche...ALW should be banned by the ISU for overuse...second only to "Carmen"
Amazing quads!

Plushenko is a 3 time world champion. You can't even begin to compare him to Patrick.

@thequadlegend And you could definitely do better than that? They pay judges to give people scores for a reason...
