DirectX 10.1: What the Experts Say

bought Windows7 Premium X64 with SP1 included and have installed it but when i go run/dxdiag and look at the Directx diagnostic tool it says my direct X version is: DirectX 10

how can i get 10.1 as i cant find a download for it?

What cracks me up is that DX 10.1 is basically Dx11. It's all marketing. All ATI cards that have DX 10.1 will be 100% compatible with DX 11. That's why Nvidia hasn't put it one their cards. 10.1 is like the beta of 11. ATI is gonna have a huge edge when DX11 officially rears it's head. I have xfx 4890 and plan on getting another. Nvidia just irks me lately with their overpriced crap. And I used to be a huge Nvidia fan, but they crap out. I still have my Radeon 9700 pro in my old comp, lol.

all dx10.1 games also run on dx11 cards in the future, and thus it isn't that useless.

it even runs on nvidia cards in the future, once they support dx11.

look in the background there you can see performace from dx 10.1 and dx 10 .. you can see

dx 10.1 has better performance :O

the problem is there are just a few games with dx10 and just a few of them supports dx10.1.

anyway when dx11 realeases this year nobody will care about dx10.1.

developers will still use dx9 or dx10 cause most people won't have dx10.1 or dx11 cards.

uhm i never said i have a Nvidia card.  in fact i have an ATI HD 4870 and a 4650 both are great cards. im just saying that with DX11 coming out very soon DX10.1 isnt that great of a selling point

But for some cases you can just update to the latest patch to add support of 10.1
