  • Do you know how to play the mandolin solo?

  • @RushFan413 .....nope!

  • In the snakes and arrows tab book, does it have the mandolin solo?

  • Workin' them Angels overBZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  • nice les paul

  • it'd be cool if you did lessons for all of these songs you play. Especially workin them angels because there are like no tabs on the internet for it. By the way, you rock!

  • I dont think I would ever have the time....WTAngels is probably the simplist Rush song, only about 5 chords and no solo, except the madrigal bit!

  • chords please? I see g and d? I think lol I cant really tell

  • what settings do you use for the acoustic part?

  • Its just clean channel with a touch of chorus.

  • yeah i just use clean channel with a lot of presence to clear up the sound, i cant even get to close to Alex's amazing acoustics from his piezo system

  • YES OLD PEOPLE THAT PLAY GUITAR ARE AWESOME!!!

    your good too

    lmao

    great taste in music

    rush FTW

  • what company made that guitar

  • Its an Epi

  • what kind of amp are you using?

i have a hughes and kettner for my Lifeson tones

  • Yeah, i have an H&K switchblade 50

  • sweet

    i have an H&K blue 60

    and a hagstrom swede

  • I bought that amp off ebay and was very disappointed with it. I also have a Super Swede which to me has a better tone than the Epis. You might want to check out the Marshall AVT series, hybrid valve amp. Not terribly expensive like the switchblade and great tone.

  • I love my H&K and I'm not impresed with Hagstroms.....but hey, each to their own!

  • I am sure the Switchblade is awesome and obviously you're looking to replicate Big Al's. I was talking about the blue HK series. The SS gets better ratings than the Viking, from what I've seen. Keep doing a great job!

  • RUSH RUSH RUSH RUSH RUSH RUSH.

I saw rush in 2007 and 2008 and hearing songs like that one really remind me of those concerts

  • 2007 for me....thought this was outstanding live.

  • Forget to say: Magestic.

  • Forget the camera.

    Pure Instinct. (on the pedals)

    Al Biss

  • When I am like lot, watching the prouesse you are executing I can't but wonder how such a talent could ever reach the surface of this planete ?

It is unbelievable. Thanks so much to permit the world to evolve.

That is what I think. You, Rush, Peace...Minded Towards

    ~Al Biss

  • Great cover, I've been trying to get this song down for a while, really helps.

    Cheers :)

  • ...no worries.

  • Hey man awesome vid, thank you for sharing the cover. I saw Rush on the Snakes and Arrows and they were killer, I think the new album is pretty solid... You played the song quite well. Listen, I'm a poor college student so I won't be able to purchase the book of tabs, but I would really be interested in exactly what you're planning there for just the acoustic progression. Great play man, thank you.

  • Cheers....Em, C, A (open b).

  • Hey man... fantastic cover. Sorry to ask man but i've searched everywhere for the tabs for this song and can find none of the usual sites, It makes me so angry! This is dominant song, I saw them on the snakes and arrows tour and they rocked so hard.

I'm just interested in the acoustic chords, I would love to know that little bit. I am a poor college student who could not afford the book. Great work man, thanks for the show.

  • What are the opening chords?

  • G A, G D.

  • Thanks =]

  • what happened to your PRS

  • trying out a floyd rose trem system on the black LP copy (see my Digital Man cover)...must admit i like it better than the PRS system, it actually stays in tune!!

  • i seriously need u to put up a tab or send me one because ive been looking FOREVER for one n u played this like perfectly...

  • try the S&A tab book, its pretty accurate for this track, i just made a few minor changes.

  • Would you be offended if I said that I love you?

  • Great job, and thanks for covering Rush!

  • I just saw rush on saturday for the first time. holy shit! they were awesome. They did like...2112, natural science, trees, red barchetta, free will...too much new stuff though, got boring. This is a great song though. What are the chords for ♫mempry strumming at the heart of a factory town♫ <-- for that whole part

  • Em C A(open b)

  • thanks

  • Thanks!! Much appreciated

  • Love your videos great job. You say you messed around for 20 years and then got serious 3 years ago. I have been messing around for 20 years and am practicing more now but not necessarily getting better. Over the pas three years would you say you practiced more or differntly I would greatly appreciate your insight. Thanks and keep em comin.

  • thanks for feedback....its nothing technical, just a state of mind, i told myself that it was all on there somewhere!! The first complete cover (including solo and fiddly bits) took an age, but i break each song down into segments and work on each one in turn. After one, it then gave me the confidence to go on. I keep telling myself Alex only uses two hands, 6 strings and 24 frets!!

  • exelentes videos y envidiables guitarras saludos desde mexico

  • tabs ? where do you get them ? or what is your method ?

  • i got the tab book for S&A, its ok. But i usually play by ear and watching the live shows

  • 911tabs . com is a great place for tabs

  • i think you should do mission. its a slow song i guess but its a song of really deep meaning. i think you should think about it.

  • wow how long have you been playing? I watched 2 vids already and I'm amazed! Subscribed!

  • ..messed about for 20 yrs, started seriously 3 years ago.

  • dude all ur vids r so awesome!!! just great job man! i wish i could play guitar like you!

  • cheers...no secret, just practise

  • lol ya so like how long in all have u been playing guitar?

  • ...seriously, about 3 years, just messed about before then

  • thats awesome, you play all the rush songs very well, better than most people on here who just disgrace them. ^_^

  • Another great Rush song - Saw them live last week! Besides Alex Lifeson, you are my hero. Just bought the Snakes and Arrows Guitar Book yesterday at Guitar Center - Played that same guitar too. Wife says I already have too many guitars - it looks like you have quite the collection.

Thanks for posting and inspiring us mortals!

  • ....praise indeed, glad you get something out of these, i just love playing this stuff! I have to limit myself to 6 guitars...i just change them, frequently!!

  • That was really good. I went to see them live, and it sounded like the way Rush plays. I've got 2 questions:

    1. Do you use a foot pedal to change to an acoustic sound?

    2. Does the beginning of the song have distortion?

  • cheers....yeah, its a foot pedal, but i am only changing channels thru the amp (H&K Switchblade). I play the beginning with distortion.

  • is it possible for u to send me tabs for that song. cuz i want my band to be able to play it.

  • Great stuff!

  • keep the good work!

  • Dude amazing job, your the best iv'e seen on here so far now you have to add ghost rider to your list and ceiling unlimited dont give up on your talent your the next jimmy page without a doubt

  • ...cheers, appreciate it! will be putting some more up soon, hopefully

  • Dude that was awsome you have to add ghost rider to your list above all iv'e seen your videos and you put a whole new name for the guitar you will go pro no doubt i even see the jimmy page in your future

  • hm i cant seem to find the music or tabs anywhere on the internet. can anyone help me out?

  • awesome cover man(Y)....could you possibly send me a tab? id really appreciate it

    p.s. - im lovin the '56 goldtop

  • ...i bought the tab book for S&A, its ok, but dont take it as read, but a good starting point

  • Nice cover with your usual sweet sound. I am glad RUSH has gotten back to some old school power chords such as with this song and Earthshine from the last album.

  • ...yeah, agree

  • Sounds great... I did have the honour to see them LIVE.. four times.. so far...

    All Upcloase and frontstaged...

I even caught Alex his guitarpick...

But i do have to admit.. I have seen better guitarplayers.... but.. he is a Great part of..Amazing Rush anyway....

  • ..thanks, i wish i lived state side sometimes, never get to see them often enough over here....

technically there are better players, but as far as for feel and innovation, i dont think he can be bettered.

  • All the trems were put on my Gibson's Custom Shop. Go to rush's website and you'll find some video about the tour, techs and equipment.

  • you do the best rush covers

  • just saw Rush this past Friday back home in Puerto Rico...amazing show!....plus Alex is using tremolo/whammy on his Les Paul's!.......we should all look at that...maybe he would respond to it at some point-yea right..:)-....i went to guitar store the other day with that request....they looked me as if i was crazy...any comments from all you Rush fans?...would love to hear some

  • yeah, he had floyd rose trems fitted to his LP's, hell of a job, guitar techs only!!! There are simpler versions out there that just bolt o though, dont know how good there are??

  • Nice cover.

I have a Kramer Baretta from 1986 with a floyd rose. those things are sweet.

  • I have a Kramer Striker ST300. It also has the floyd rose. You are right. They are sweet.

  • I have the same LP.....looking to get one with a tremolo....cant affford a PRS...wondering if a strat and its tremolo would do it for rush tunes/songs?...would love anyone else to comment on this...also thought about getting a steinberger

  • ...i'm looking to put a trem on one of my Epi LP's, i'll let you know how it goes.

  • Great!....will be seeing them in my home country...Puerto Rico! (opening 2008 tour).....we are big into progressive rock btw.....so i have a question...could you say what gear(guitars, amps, pedals) are you using in general?....and keep it up!...big inspiration for us all what you are doing.

  • Thanks for your comments!! Amp - H&K Switchblade (pedal only to switch channels). Guitars - PRS CE24, Epi LP (x2), Acoustic Vintage (6 & 12 string, classical Washburn.

  • you have so many guitars nice cover

  • Best song on the album!

Great job, man! Keep 'em coming.

    Plz?

  • yeah, this and The Way the Wind Blows my top 2

  • Hehehe awesome!

But Limelight's high up there, right? Subdivisions?

  • ...absolutely, i was only refering to S&A album

  • yep...p90's

  • nice

  • nice les paul! i love gold tops.

  • Is There Any Way That You Could Tab Or Like Teach Me How To Play This And A Larger Bowl?

I Love This Song And There Are No Tabs.

  • best thing you can do is buy the Snakes and Arrows tab book, you'll find it on Ebay. cheers.

  • Go badger Go, Excellent as usual. Liked that one lots. You deserve a beer my mate.

  • ....great song isn't it! Souns even better after a few jars!

  • Another awesome job! You've been on a terror the past few weeks........I'm loving it. At this rate you'll have just about every Rush song covered in the next 8 months! Keep'em coming! Thanks!

  • thanks....glad your enjoying them, trying to crack La Villa at the moment, but have plenty of others on the go.

  • *stutters*....that songs just insane.....if you can pull that off, youd have to be a god.......its just not possible for anyone other than AL

  • is that a gib or an epi-and great job

  • Epi...sold the gib, wasn't impressed.

  • Yea, I prefer the epi vs. the gibson, the neck is much faster, it has better feel

  • ...yeah, agreed

  • Great song!!!

  • Yeah, this one surely rocked in their live show. Your cover rocks too.

  • thanks...loved the new tracks played live

  • Is this all learned by ear or do you by chance have the rush tab books?

  • ...mainly by ear, but yes, use tabs, DVD's, pro guitar, watching him live (once every 6 years or so!), anything to give me a clue.

  • as usual - fantastic rendition.

  • thanks

  • Outstanding! My favorite song on the new album.

  • ...yes, its a close call, but I think Angels takes it!

  • how is that guitar? i was thinking of picking that exact one up (well not exact)?

  • ...I'm quite impressed, I use an Epi LP standard as well, but i like the cleaner tone of the Goldtop.

  • Real nice Gold Top! 5 stars on your rendition.

  • cheers Patman!
