infiltration, distillation . what is this? marketing Occupy? making it trendy? making it pop?
I wonder if you kids really get what this is about? this is about a paradigm shift.. And please no responses like "..lighten up .." If this appeals to you .. you don't get it, and you will be persuaded by small concessions. There is NO negotiation with Govt. Moving forward with a monetary system is the status quo. This appeals? You are the NOW generation just like the luddites in government.
@CommonlyKnownAsV What do you think Occupy is but a product of the paradigm shift? I support Occupy, I am part of Occupy, and I am well aware that the Monetary System has got to go, because history will only repeat itself if we allow a silly piece of paper power of us. It's time to break the cycle. Not everyone sees that, yet. But Occupy does believe another world is possible & it's evidence that the masses are waking up. The power lies within the collective, unified.
OCCUPY TAPE..... LMAO.. if we sold that.. i swear Occupy would have more funds than all the 'Political Parties put together' to campaign with ;o) ;o)... lmao
To make the tape they used a label printing service. Google "seton" they have a service to make "custom printed shipping tape". This looks to be what was used. I couldn't get the text to fit right, but this is surely what they used.
this type of guerrilla disruption tactic is the one thing that has been missing from this movement. I think it's time Occupy Together started taking advantage of the fact that society now differentiates street art from the usual smashy-smashy.
This was lame. It tries to look cool, but is empty of content or significance - just like the Occupy Wall Street movement. "Make the difference"? You mean by committing acts of littering and vandalism that only alienate the people you are trying to convince to join and support the OWS movement? Way to go, Epic Fail! Keep up the good work and lead those voters right into the Conservative Republican Party!
GM. For some weeks I though that the Occupy Movement could represent a political disruptive phenomenom. When the movement found itself embeded more by from than by content, i suspect thing were going wrong.
I dont know what does this video has to be with the beginning of the movement. I suggest to get again into the original track. Occupy Massively. Videos with the voice of the occupiers are more real than any spot. Best regards. E, R.
To the guy pointing out the for hire sign: I'm a former Jp Morgan stock broker. Those aren't jobs, they are offering slave labor opportunities which will mar your soul for life.
I think they are missing the point with this video. Large banks steal from Americans in much, much more insidious ways than just recklessly invest your savings. They do it through currency manipulation in the FED.
@gczechyoself No one wants to work for a corporation that dedicates to stealing money, corrupting government, and keeping Americans in a lower economic standing by keeping them in debt, lowering the value of money trough inflation from the FED, manipulating stock market, inflating ratings and values of CDO's which are in it self, a multiplication of profits in themselves etc etc. . Watch "The Inside Job"
MAKE THE DIFFERENCE? make the difference by doing what, putting up 2 pieces of caution tape on a bank door while making a minute & a half long video about how cool you are? seriously, pathetic. THIS WILL TOTALLY SHUT THE BANKS DOWN
We need more guerrilla campaigns like this. The tape doesn't cause permanent vandalism therefore it makes a strong statement without alienating mainstream folks.
PS - Occupy tape is already in strong demand as evidenced by people requesting it on several pages I posted this video. This could open up a whole new angle for Occupy. We can - and should - produce our own products and sell and trade them to one another in the interest of building our own economy on our own terms.
From a forensic standpoint: you're smoothing down the tape with bare fingers, and the adhesive side is collecting your DNA in the form of skin cells... next time wear gloves.
@DavidFilmore From a forensic standpoint, when my home was robbed the police didn't bother dusting for prints. It would be absurd for them to go to such lengths to try to catch someone who had stuck easily removable yellow tape on a window; a crime which is nuisance at worst, and if prosecuted would lead to a fine or good behaviour bond, if that.
@viv3ka My apartment was robbed and they sent someone the next day to dust for fingerprints. It's standard practice in LA. And FYI, law enforcement absolutely do fingerprint for “small” crimes, data shows that people who commit small crimes are more likely to progress to larger crimes. It’s better to get them in the system early. Also, the police like to make an example of crimes that are glorified like this one is… but that's not to say that I don't support OWS, because I do.
Okay, fun, a little silly but not over the top. Kinda like the matador and the Wall St. bull. Way better than those people running around with tents on their heads yesterday. That was just idiotic, I don't care what it supposedly represented. Gotta be careful of the image of Occupy at all times - there are plenty of people just waiting to dismiss it.
the tent-clothing idea in Melbourne was in response to idiotic "laws" prohibiting tents (not tanks, mind you), and all in good fun. a sense of humor is advisable to all.
@eligarf I'm all for a sense of humor, but here in the US it's that sort of thing that the corporate media singles out and focuses on in order to discredit Occupy. We are told that Occupiers are lazy, spoiled, whiners, dirty hippies who need to clean up and get a job, accompanied by very carefully selected video that "proves" it. I really, really support Occupy but I worry when some "actions" seem to play right into the naysayers' hands.
@gfdgf2 its not local finance that's the problem, its the international finance that gets done in nations names without your consent. It may not feel like there is a gun pointed at your head yet, that's becuase they've only just begun with the austerity measures.
I have no beef with 'boring banking' as it is called. But unfortunately that is not what is going on 9 times out of 10
I neither support no condone these actions. But I don't condemn them, either. This revolution needs more non-violent shit-kickers to get people riled up!
@Curmudgeonification Buy it buy the ton I will. You obviously don't understand Occupy. It is not about rejecting capitalism it is about regulating it. It is not about creating economically responsible, environmentally contentious corporations and companies it is about the ones that lack any kind of regulation or care for the employees that work there. Your effort to crush it with your empty words is like a fly on a banquet, slightly annoying but really insignificant.
@DreMPC I agree Occupy should be against crony capitalism, but why do we need more government regulation? If the banks are the ones paying the regulators to keep their mouths shut, shouldn't we have a free-market so that real capitalism can work? What do you think the government or banks should do with employees if both of them are corrupt?
@johnnyrivera710 We don't need more regulation we just need the regulations we used to have like the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 that was in place until 1999 when it was repealed. Ten years after its repeal, detractors condemn Glass-Stegall's repeal for reestablishing conflict of interest within the financial industry and fostering "too big to fail" institutions that led to the housing market collapse and its associated financial crisis. Corruption sucks but we need regulation.
@DreMPC I agree we need Glass-Steagall Act, but look at the other regulations like Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002. Is the Sarbanes act helping or hurting small businesses? First of all, we need free market and money out of politics. Second, we need Glass-Steagall Act reinstated to prevent merging commercial & investment banking and abuses of false regulation. Banks are now regulating themselves!!. Third, we need rating companies to do their jobs (Ex: Moody's). And no more Fed or gov subsidies.
@bugeyemonster explain that to VS. I'm not trying to hate on you but trust me when I tell you they can bring you in for that. Don't make the police's job any easier. vandalism is a felony in New York and that includes putting up what is essentially a sticker with a logo on it.
