He has absolutely no sense of timing or phrasing and from what I see here, technical ability. His left hand pulls the strings up and down effecting the note being played (I'm not even going to comment on the angle of his left hand), his slurs are sloppy and have no control and it seems like he cant control how loud or soft his right hand plays. WOW. slow it down to 12 bpm and maybe you'll play this well.

I really think you should listen to Li Jie's version. You can surely play this piece without a mistake, but it feels like you are swallowing some of those notes because you are playing too fast...

There are parts that are exhilarating like riding a bike down the side of a mountain with no brakes. I don't think he's not "ready" for this piece. Certainly he missed several notes, however I think he just needs to change his approach because clearly he has the dexterity required to play it. It's just for some reason he's more concerned about looking cool I guess and choosing the most inefficient (especially in the variation with the legato notes) locations on the fretboard to play the notes. Once he realizes the most efficient way to play this song, I'm sure he will do just fine with it.

You should seriously consider taking lessons or pointers from players like Su Meng, Ana Vidovic, you still have a lot to learn a lot from them. If you can't play it that fast, you'd be better off playing at a slower tempo & really expressing the piece, you'd probably get some respect for the effort. This performance (including facial expressions & body language) is at best; a poor show off attempt that is really off putting!

His technique certainly is not bad: It´s just that they can´t quite follow his passion, fire and verve. Or perhaps trying to imitate Yamashita without the necessary technique to carry it off. Still, I enjoy this guy: he´s original, fun to listen to and watch and doesn´t fear danger, risks or anything. Very entertaining.
