The worst thing about this, this is not just some one off incident, it happens every day, we know there are good officers out there too, but the number of people who become policemen for the sole reason of having power over people, is considerable. i wish there was a better system for police, in America they are just as bad. Some rural areas cops can do some nasty things to people and cover the whole thing up. They search cars for no apparent reason, hell my friend got pulled over and the cops pulled apart his whole trunk searching for anything to incriminate him. They didn't need to do anything. He hadn't done anything wrong and he was running away and under the rule of self-defence one can use reasonable force to resist arrest if this arrest is unlawful, which it was.

Even if you are a guilty criminal or an innocent bystander, the rule is in any violent situation: fight or flight. They didn't need to do anything. He hadn't done anything wrong and he was running away and under the rule of self-defence one can use reasonable force to resist arrest if this arrest is unlawful, which it was.
Scraping the head and punching him is far beyond the mark. These officers should have lost their jobs. Perhaps even faced criminal prosecutions.
As it happened, the guy being beaten was convicted of assaulting the officers, but this was later overturned.

I think the people that made the police what it once was are still around and in large numbers, but it seems to me that some are there purely in there own interest instead of the public interest and coupled with the fact the force has become too politicised doesnt spell good news for us.

Thats your interpretation of the incident and mine is that he was wriggling about and his movements caused his head to rub on the floor without either of us actually being there in person we wont know because the video shows nothing of what forces were applied at what times, that said I dont see how its beyond belief to say that they are checking their safety whilst doing what they do in the middle of the road its just a sensible thing to do.

Before you block me for being 'delusional' try it, try actually restraining a friend who agrees to it and tell them to make every effort to resist, and you will see what I mean I have taken part in hundreds of restraints over the last ten years and whilst all have been different one thing sticks out from it all that the size of those involved means nothing.
And unless you have been invovled in multiple restraints you simply wont understand the dynamics of one and watching wont help!

Look I've told you once, don't act like we're the ones who are being to harsh or hysterical. The officer smacks his head on the floor and then scrapes his head on the floor. I don't need to been in the Police for years to know that's unexceptable. There is no excuse, there is no debate, end of story. If you don't stop I'll stop you, just leave it!

I cant believe we have such a nanny state these days, the lance corporal was resisting arrest and the police tryed to restrain him. He shouldnt have got in trouble in the first place.

I have no problem with you being drunk or with you speaking your mind as long as you do it in a reasonable manner and are'nt abusive or behaving in a manner which intimidates or is offensive to others.
As I said I have no desire to be treated like property, no idea why you would even think that and also no inclination to be injured so I wouldnt be stupid enough to be drunk disorderly and abusive to anyone let alone the police.
I have been out on the lash many many times and never once arrested!

I think you want to be treated like property, because the idea of a cop being able to abuse me like that fuckin' makes me sick. I don't know how you stomach it. They didnt scrape his head along the floor he was wriggling while they are trying to hold him nor ar they pulling his hair your just making that up what they did was use reasonable force to restrain a drunken abusive resisting suspect.

You have no proof that he was being abusive. You have no proof that he was resisting arrest. All we can prove is that that one big cop grabbed his head and violently scraped it across the floor. It's clearly visible in the video.

He admitted in court that he was drunk and abusive directly at the police officers and yes that is an arrestable offence and as you put so much store in the video to me its quite evident he is struggling with them and refusing to allow them to cuff him and wriggling about, clearly moving his head which gets scraped on the floor whilst doing this.

God help you all on the mainland if they decide to ARM all police officers with Guns etc on every day policing!! NOTE ia m not Anti Police but at least here in NIreland any officer who draws or uses his fire arm had better have a good reason as N.Ireland has the best Inepentant Board throught out the world after so many not guilty people where shot dead or wounded bearing in mind we had real troubles for over 35 years. I can see all the UK Police being armed with guns. Peace at last:)
