  • RIP Clarence Clemens

  • you betta know!

  • My favorite Dr. John performance ever! And WHAT A BAND!!!!

  • Thanks for the comment. Been watching "Treme" on DVD and lovin' the New Orleans music and soul.

  • I saw this lineup at Blossom Music Center in '89!!!

    Excellent show!

  • It doesn't get any better than this!

  • Happy Birthday Dr. John!

  • The headdress is because the song is about Mardi Gras Indians, who are the opposite of minstrels. Their motto, "We won't bow down," is a shout of defiance against the forces arrayed against them.

  • @Leavitt oh shit man, you did not use the M word talking about a New Orleans musician....

  • Cool, Ringo playing 2nd line ..

  • outstanding!!

  • Absolutely awesome performance!

  • How many people in this video are dead now?

  • @relimes too many

  • The Dr. is most definitely in!

  • There is so much awesome in this video I find myself re-watching it all the time. The three-drummer attack, Danko in great health, Billy Preston, Joe Walsh...I could go on and on.

  • @HagbardCeline42

I feel the same way. It makes me move. When I originally posted it (I was the Director), I thought that only a few people would ever watch it. I am gratified that people who love music have found it. The band was a gas to work with.

  • @getgs Did this ever get officially released on video? I've seen it traded among collectors.

  • @HagbardCeline42

The DVD of this lineup was only released in Europe due to contractual bs. It does turn up used occassionally.

  • @HagbardCeline42 TRU DAT PLAYYAHHHHHHHH! Who's NOT there??? Wish I was up there!!! Back to dancin'.........

  • man what a line up for an awesome song

  • see "Nobody's Child: Romanian Angel Appeal"

    at wikipedia

    for more details

  • All My VERY Favorites!!!!

  • I sure miss Billy

  • Check out Dr John playing this song with Willy DeVille.

  • I worked with many great musicians in my career and I appreciate all the comments this video receives. It was among my favorites in particular because of Mac and Rick Danko's performance. It never fails to get me moving.

  • @getgs Thank you for posting this. What a group of talented musicians.

  • Not even the good Doctor can resist shaking his ass to a Rick Danko bassline! This video rules on so many levels.

  • Swwwing it Dr. John...

  • Joe Walsh sure can rip it up.

  • too bad they had to have lame ass Clemens playing sax...

  • and Billy Preston! Garth Hudson,is the 3rd drummer STeve Gadd?

  • 3rd drummer is Jim Keltner

  • 5 Stars!

  • Righteous!

  • Bass players, take note: you can do a hell of a solo without that tapping bullshit.

  • The first "All Star Band" tour... Ringo, Joe Walsh, Levon Helm, Rich Danko, Clarence Clemmons, Nils Lofgren, Billy Preston, Dr John, and Jim Keltner...

  • Semitones, you are correct on both counts

  • Also, correct me if I'm wrong Jim Keltner on drums and Garth Hudson on accordian.

  • I believe this is from 1989 and the venue is The Greek Theatre, Los Angeles.

  • am looking for the date of this, cannot find- any help out there? also, what was the venue? thanks, love it, love it , love it!

  • It is the late great Billy Preston.

  • am i wrong or is that billy preston on B3?

  • The good Doctor does Iko-Bo-Diddly-Iko.....great stuff!

  • Niels Lofgren from the E Street Band

  • Da one in keyboards is Billy Preston? Greetings from Argentina, thx for sharing this video, it seems it was "such a night" LOL

  • @Euqee18 i think we're right..lol

  • Seeing Rick Danko play on one of my favourite songs..... wow. Awesome

  • I realy love Dr John`s version of Iko ... thx for posting here...and congratulations for directing and producing such a good show !

  • I'm glad a few people have found it. I was a co-producer and director on the show and enjoyed every minute.

  • Is this from a DVD I can purchase? Please?

  • Unfortunately it is not available in the USA but is available in Europe (UK, Germany, etc.) . If you look on the various Amazon's, you might find it in Zone 1 ntsc but most are PAL zone 2.

  • I forgot to add that there are several Ringo all star shows, so you have to look closely at the details.

  • good performance :) saw him in copenhagen a few years ago, fantastic!!!!! :)

  • pretty good stuff

what the heck is he wearing though, one of the most ridiculous outfits i have EVER seen

  • @rythymd3vil: It's a Mardi Gras head-dress. Bear in mind that Dr John's style was the basis for the keyboard player on The Muppet Show LOL
