Check out the 12" mix of this classic boogie moment with the longer intro. Recently saw Shirley Jones perform in London alongside the delectable Jean Carne & she's still amazing as ever. Some of these current so-called 'neo soulers' out there could learn a whole lot from the likes of mssrs Jones & Carne instead of boring us to tears all trying to mimick Jill (Scott) or Erykah (Badu); Ledisi being one of the few notable exceptions to the rule.
The Emotions came out a few years before these sisters. With that said, The Jones Girls are only rivaled by the aforementioned, Emotions, and Envogue when it comes to all around vocal talent, harmonies, and equal vocal strength. These sisters are the standard. They are all also very beautiful. (R.I.P Valerie Jones...)
it true the emotins came out first but like isaid the jones girls were much classier and the sound like pure angles and the emtionswere the female version of the temptation with there dance steps and rb music
Always have liked this song and video from 1983, haven't seen it in over two decades. It has a smooth groove, bassline, and of course top notch vocals from these very talented, beautiful, but under rated sisters, arguably the most under rated R&B singing group of the 80's, R.I.P. Valorie Denise Jones(0:51)1956 - 2001.
Hey Rufus317 true the Hutchinson sisters were very talented but i seem to recall their only hit in the U.K was 'BEST OF MY LOVE'whereas the JONES sisters songs were everywhere in U.K clubs in late 70's/early 80's.Two soul sisters sadly missed R.I.P VALERIE JONES & JUNE POINTER-HW61
Watch Valorie mouth out damn at (2:06-07)! She wuz a straight up cutie! On "pilot Error" video, watch Stehepnie Mills mouth out the words "s**t" in the begining!
Thanks for posting this. I am a huge Jones Girls fan. Have all their albums and have burned them to CD. I remember seeing them on Dance Fever, Mike Douglas and on an awards show. Excellent group.
I can't find this on mp3 and none of their greatest hits has this either, despite it being on the top 50 on the R&B charts! If you have "2 Win U Back", I'd appreciate it if you email me it on mp3!
Lol!! the funny is that's it is true so ladies watch out !! Cause your best friend might be the one preying on your man wanting to know how it feels to be in your shoes!!lol
Great song, miss that good old tune and lyrics that make sense. the good ol'days!!
Valarie is not he one singing thats the eldest sister Shirley Jones who had that song "Do you Get enough love" valerie is the one that comes in at 1:04
At this time, MTV only played videos by Michael Jackson, Prince, Lionel Richie, and Shalamar! If you wanted to see this video, you had to be fortunate enough to have access on BET (Donnie Simpson started hosted Video Soul in 83") or tune into Music Video Connection, Nite Tracks, and/or New York Hot Tracks!
This was one dynamic group. "You Gonna Make Me Love Soomeone Else" is my favorite from the Jones Girls ( who were actually sisters). One of the sisters passed away a few years ago. Does anyone know which one it was? Please let me know. Thakns for posting this gem.
The Jones Girls were an awesome Emotions copykat! Awesome voices!!!! Oh my, this is one of the best songs from the eighties! I still have the original 12inch dance version!
Ah I can remember being at school when this song first came out; Ah when it came to singing harmony, The Jones Girls and The Emotions were in a league of their own!
Have I mentioned how fyne these girls are?! This is an example of a true soul video, not the junk BET plays today! S**t BET plays stuff nowadays that degrades our black women and promotes materialism and violence....which is a self slit in the throat!!

One of The Jones Girls' funkiest tracks. Such a bad bassline, and impeccable vocals as ever! LOVE IT!
Never seen the vid before.

That's what I meant. MTV was very segregated. Still is, really.

The Jones Girls were more talented than Sister Sledge. Sister Sledge were better looking.

I was absolutely in love with the Jones Girls back in the day. I still have the Nights Over Egypt LP.
Best CD is the Jones Girls greatest hits. Just as talented if not more than Sister Sledge. I used to have a crush over the sisters that looked alike.
newbytestl 4 years ago
The Joneses were very talented but I wouldn't say the best Sister Act but I would have to give that to the Emotions.

Valorie Jones (the youngest sister) died several years ago.
mmace63 4 years ago
Which one was Valorie and how she died?
Azone01 4 years ago
In this video, she is the one wearing the orange and the one who throws the net over the stair case. The sources never mentioned how she died.
mmace63 4 years ago
She died of cancer in 2002.

Damn! She was the cutest one too.

Probably one of the RAREST vidz from this 80's-era ... incredible , what a treasure.
I always dig the pre-part with chord/vocal-change , just before the chorus.
Thanx so much 4 sharing Centralline14.
Soul in Peace , Miss Valorie Jones.

I know, I don't watch BET anymore. All of the videos they play now are trash and some of the worse rap songs I've heard in years.
CRAZYTRAE 4 years ago
I still watch BET, but not the music videos or comic view. Every once in a while, I catch some movies, In Living Color, and Girlfriends but thats it!
