I thank God we did not become homeless....My husband was laid off from work for 8 months. For 8 months straight we put in application after applications and resumes almost daily. Not one time did anyone call or inquire him concerning a job. Finally he was able to go back to work....After this we became preppers. It is a reality people.

I never felt the economic decline, but I install peoples satellite tv. If there is one things people will keep, it's the damn TV. I installed in houses where their water was off, but hey, they are getting TV. The homeless should unite and take over empty buildings. There is an equivalent to "squatter's rights" here in America which pertains to abandoned property. Anyone with access to a computer or a library can look up the relevant statutes for their area. This should NOT be happening while there is so much shelter available.

It is becoming this way in Portland Oregon. Never have things been this bad here. We are in the top 3 cities for unemployment. I have a degree in Accounting and Business and have 18 years of experience and cant get a job doing anything. I worked for MSI and they outsourced and left Portland after being here 26 years. No one cares here and you are just a number. Theft is really really bad here and no matter how many jobs you apply for they treat you like dirt and never call you back.

A better solution would be to give companies a tax break (wait, i'm not done) for every employee they hire, ONLY AFTER that worker is there for 6 months.. maybe a year. I am not able to help him, but pray for him daily. He did have a job, but got hurt and now it will be months before he can work again. There are more good people than bad that are in this situation. I thank God we did not become homeless....My husband was laid off from work for 8 months. For 8 months straight we put in application after applications and resumes almost daily. Not one time did anyone call or inquire him concerning a job. Finally he was able to go back to work....After this we became preppers. It is a reality people.

The homeless should unite and take over empty buildings. There is an equivalent to "squatter's rights" here in America which pertains to abandoned property. Anyone with access to a computer or a library can look up the relevant statutes for their area. This should NOT be happening while there is so much shelter available.

It is becoming this way in Portland Oregon. Never have things been this bad here. We are in the top 3 cities for unemployment. I have a degree in Accounting and Business and have 18 years of experience and cant get a job doing anything. I worked for MSI and they outsourced and left Portland after being here 26 years. No one cares here and you are just a number. Theft is really really bad here and no matter how many jobs you apply for they treat you like dirt and never call you back.

If his fat ass lost his job and he missed a few payments on his mortgage it's very possible he could easily end up one of those bums.
The big problem homelessness is a very difficult trap to escape.
If you have no address you can't apply for a job and you can't get government assistance.
The proper solution would be to increase funding for government housing and job search assistance.

I disagree. search assistance is worthless if people aren't hiring. A better solution would be to give companies a tax break (wait, i'm not done) for every employee they hire, ONLY AFTER that worker is there for 6 months.. maybe a year. That way, companies can hire people without thinking they are just losing money. that makes them want to pinch their buttholes shut . It also makes it virtually impossible for a company to take advantage but cycling through employees.

I am a property owner, I too see the homeless in my community. I am building small cabins on 10 acres of my my land so I can give others a place to live, a foof over their heads and a chance at redemption against the evils of this world. Now is a time to help one another, to lift one another up!

@DaNuWaGiLi I want to thank you for what you are doing for these people. I have been homeless before and I thank God that I am not right now. But my son is in Florida and he is homeless. I am not able to help him, but pray for him daily. He did have a job, but got hurt and now it will be months before he can work again. There are more good people than bad that are in this situation.
