The difference, however, is that he has done this before. It *was* awful. It *is* awful that he defends his position and said "Sometimes I choose to, other times I choose not to."
Contrary to popular belief, Obama did have his hand on his heart. There's a photo of him with his hands crossed over his crotch while everyone else had their hands on their hearts or were saluting. That's just because Obama took his hand down before anyone else. If you watch this video from 2:30, you can see that he did put his hand on his heart.
