I tried doing the cloning effect on sony vegas pro 11 with the mask tool. everything went fine but when I play the clip, the image is changing between either one of my clones or both of them.

@mrriverrock1 For the chroma key problem, what you need to make sure is in the green screen effect you apply to the video that "Show Mask Only" is UNchecked.

while i was using the cookie cutter tool when i dragged it over where the person is supposed to be instead of showing the second person it turned black.

@ThePakiz4life You need to make sure that the two clone clips are on separate tracks (a track can be added with CTRL+SHIFT+Q) and also that the cookie cutter effect is applied to the clip on the TOP track. :)

@olitkm I'm sure he does, but If you're using vegas, all you do is is either press ctrl or shift, you should see your arrow turn into a squiggly line, then you can stretch your video clip to any length you want. the more you stretch the slower it will be. Good luck!

@thelukabmx if you right click on the audio or video..select 'group' then 'remove from' then they become separate and you can move/delete them as needed :)

Hey Rich, I'm just wondering, how do you time all of the shots? I mean when you record to two different shots, how do they not overlap each other when you split the screen? I'm gonna have a pretty long back and forth diologue in my video, so I'm confused as to how I need to time all of this.

@proffninja77 it's tricky but here's a couple of techniques I use:

1. Record the audio on an mp3 player (or other device) then play it back either via an earpiece or out loud to get your queues (you can mute this out in edit)

2. Have the computer playing the first video off screen or behind the camera so you can 'see' the queues

many ways including timing etc but the earpiece one (headphone) is my fave :)

Here is another tip I forgot to mention, if a bit of vid is slightly out of sync, you can always slow down or speed one the videos slightly (obviously not the talking part)

yes.... but there is better tool in 9pro called "mask" its practically exactly the same as cookie cutter, but you are not restricted to preset shapes..... there is tutorial on it on his playlist

Great effect Rich. I love the whole "Lil' Rich" collection. Any idea (anyone) how to combine two split clips so they can be edited (Fx added, etc.) as one? "Grouping" the clips allows you tho move them as one, but each clip must still then have Fx added individually. I saw mention of saving the clips into a file and then re-adding the file, but no clue how to do it. "Help me Lil' Rich. You're my only hope."
