ALCHEMY best imo, but all solos different, improvisational, soul tearing in their intensity. Now he sits to play, perched on the edge of a speaker. Still the ultimate in cool and still standing musically. Tnx for putting this out there.
Couldn't agree more with the comments about Alchemy - by far the BEST EVER version of this classic all time great, bloody brilliant, incredible, aweinspiring, moving, beautiful song.
Well done mate for the editing on this.. very very interesting video. Thank you!
Very interesting work, man!good work with the changes between each piece.I can see more clearly why I like the alchemy version overall. Thanks for this.
truely inspired! My favorite songs / versions is whatever is playing at the moment but I like the 1980 with Pick Withers or later with Terry Williams & really enjoy Jack Sonni, but the later performances have a depth of maturity & like the Pensa sound best. Excellent job on the vid!!! ***** Telegraph Road in Hollywood 2010 was amazing. This is wondeful; thnx for sharing!!
@becksdollface i went to see him in montreux last week, I must say I wasn't expecting much (not really into his solo stuff) but he definitely prooved me wrong, telegraph was played beautifully, a few uncertainties in sultans but like you said when he picks up the Pensa he is number one, thanks for commenting, I will soon be working on a funnier one of them :-)
@Trinita75 I thought to cover 1985 with a big event, to stress the concept from the pub to a world event. On a second thought the australian concert could have worked better maybe, as well as using the1988 nelson mandela concert to cover the gap between 1985 and 1992.
@KJS72 hi, I have been a DS/MK fan since 1988, so basically almost at the end of their career. I was lucky enough to see many dates of the On Every Street tour and Mark Knopfler a couple of times in london in the 90's. I have then moved to different music but still touched by their songs and Youtube has contributed to refresh my passion for DS. I will probably go and see him in Montreux in July.
merci c'est très bien

Every single one of them is unbelievable but my fav out of the lot would be the old grey wistle test 1978 sultans, just raw sounding and powerful.

One time, I tried to do a video with this period:
Money for Nothing 1985 - 2005.
But youtube detected "Money For Nothing" song and not published the video by this reason :(
Tunnel Of Love is a very nice song too.
Sorry my bad english.*

I would like to see a version of this video with money for nothing.

@guitardo2 do you think? I was actualy considering tunnel of love though it wasn't played much lately...

my favourite is Demo Tape version pre 1979, fast and very original.
more complete is alchemy version 1985
miss Australian version live concert 1996 with Schecter guitar
more clean sound is A night in London 1996 and concerts 1992 with Pensa guitar.
very good job, i like it !
