Both are first rate; if I had to choose, I would say she seems a bit more comfortable in her role than he in his. She has a blog where she comments on her life as she goes around singing here and there. One thing I noticed in reading it is that she never once says anything about Florez (other than listing him in an opera cast) at all. Of course I wouldn't expect her to say anything unfavorable, but she doesn't say anything favorable either which I found a bit odd.

Interesting! I read the blog too and hadn't noticed that... I wonder if she just feels it's more professional not to say anything about other singers, because I can't think of her saying anything about anyone else, either. She does talk about conductors and orchestras, if I remember correctly.

Yes, because Florez does say things about other singers, sometimes remarks that seem a bit ambiguous. In an interview he gave in France he said that Dessay gets "into" her roles "so completely" that sometimes she forgets her cues and he has to whisper them to her.

i know, it is very terrible. i hate all this new stuff. the singers at least are good. her voice seems a bit high for cenerentola though, but still quite good.

Beautiful! DiDonato and Florez were great together in "Barber of Seville," and here they seem even better! Wonderful singing, wonderful acting. The mice though are a bit creepy.
