  • I got a 92 e36 with no airbag! Oh well, I still love if it does want to kill me!

  • Say what you want about safety I rolled my e36 compact two days ago.

And I'm still here. Cars built like a freaking tank.

  • @beradlles how did u roll it?

  • @samfisherman007 spun, went down a verge and rolled it. was a nice motor that.

  • Late deployment of airbag and the face missed the airbag altogether! Note to self: Do not crash my e36!

  • Well... At least it is safer thn the rover 100

  • ...and here you can see the most useless airbag EVER.

  • one of the worst cars ever. and clueless people say german cars have safety...maybe now...!

  • Fajnie widzieć co może stać się z moim przy dzwonie:)

  • Well I dont believe that those crash tests have the same results like in actual life. I own this car and a year ago i had an accident because the other driver passed a red light. My speed was about 80 KMH (50 mph) when i crashed on him. He had a 2008 Toyota Avensis. I crashe on his left side in the center.

Well the results for the car were bad. But i came out of it without a scratch!! No airbag only belt.

The other driver wasnt wearing belt so he went on Hospital. The 8 airbags did nothing.

  • Imagine having one without airbags! Oh wait I do..

  • The dummies teeth were later removed from the steering column...

  • the 1990-2000 BMW 3 Series was assembled in

    Munich, Germany

    Toluca, Mexico

    Cairo, Egypt

    Greer, South Carolina, United States

  • I wonder what engine was there 1.6l? because if you'd have 2.0l or 2.5l OR 2.8l plate engine I doubt that car would crush so hard like that with a head to head impact

  • @SilverKPECT

You can think that if it makes you feel better ;)

  • @DoogieDarwel I'm still driving this kinda car with only 2 air bags in front, so I'm kinda worried ;D and I think the bigger engine provides more safety :) no?

  • Look too for the e39 before and after weld spots updating, there are two videos on youtube. I have many prospects and lekture about the e36 and there are pictures and a lot to read about these updates. Many german cars from the 90" have weld spots updates after facelift or before.....they updated thear cars continuerly to sell high tech cars and not only 7 Year old models at the end of the produktion Greetings Munich

  • Did you notice that the airbag did not nothing?

  • They are great cars, long live the e36 3 series :)

  • 1994??? may be?

  • Good thing I would have choosed a mercedes form the same year.

  • Here is the chart of 1997 cars: 1.Volvo S40 -26 p. 2.VW Passat -19 p. 3.Opel Vectra -18 p. 4.Renault Laguna -17 p. 4.Audi A4 -17 p. 4.Ford Mondeo -17 p. 5.Mercedes-Benz C Class -16 p. 6.Peugeot 406 -15 p. 7.Saab 900 -12 p. 8.Rover 600 -11 p. 9. BMW 3 Series -10 p. 10. Citroen Xantia -9 p. I think there's all of them. You do the judge.
  • @TheCarManiac18 did you pull this list of your ass??

  • @jimakosgian26 no, i pulled this list from euroncap official site, and i posted it on the 1997 cars crash test clips

  • im not surprised it squished like a tin can, the e36 is known to have a weak chassis, i wish i kept my e34 oh well..

  • @ODaLegend9 "combined speed" has been proven to be irrelevant unless the other vehicle is significantly larger. Two cars of equal size crashing at 50mph each is the same force as one car crashing at 50.

  • You have to remember guys that this car had its designs from 1991. And like people have said, there constantly updating their structers and that. I dont care what any Volvo of Merc driving says, BMW are the safest cars on this planet!

  • @TheONEWELL yeah right, and Obama is white

  • NCAP == Bullshit, i dont trust their tests one single moment.

  • my 98 e36 saved my life head on at combined speed of 180km/h so dont diss the e36 fuck all the haters

  • @0DaLegend9 E36 for life!

  • This car was a 1991 bmw 3 serien, but this 1991 3series was testet in 1997. Its not a 1997 3 series. This car has lens in his headlights an no passanger airbag. The 3 series in this test have his airbag sensors over the front wheels. The younger e36 have the airbag sensors under the bank in the fond (in the middle)

For a 1991 sedan its a still good result

  • @DamnSweetThing1100 AND ????

The Construction is same for E36 all years , its old construction .... E46 have changed (maybe new)construction

In this car you dont need airbag, because the steering wheel was kill you totally.

And if this car have bigger engine (2.8) the crash is worst ...

Dont crash i say !! Beacause this is nice and very good handling car with balls. ...

  • @BugThorn This isnt right.

BMW updatet this car continualy an updated the weld spot s too.

There are more at newer e36 s

The younger e36 have more Airbags too an a harder construction.

    Greetings from Munich, Germany;-)

  • @DamnSweetThing1100

97 is almost the end the life cycle of E36, it does not make sense to overhaul the chassis. Since E46 came out in 1999, E36 will be the it is as ever. As a Chinese, I found very amusing what ADAC and German media press after Brilliance Auto crash test. :) Did not take long for me to fish this clip out.

  • @MrBS4

    This isnt right.

BMW updatet this car continualy an updated the weld spot s too. Look at the old Merc e crashtests or the e39, or the e46 before 2000 and after 2000...german engineers updatet all these cars with more weld spots. Here on Youtube are crashtests bevore ande after weld spot updating, look for it

  • @BugThorn

No, the crash testet car was a 93 bmw with fl indikators but only one airbag. Look at the headlights, there are the old headlights on that testet car. Take a look at the Airbag, there only one airbag steering wheel in this car. And its the big old steering wheel with no color BMW emblem. This system have their sensors placed over the front wheels. The last e36 have 4 airbags...Bmw updated the airbags too

  • @DamnSweetThing1100

On european E36s like this one, side airbags were not available and a passenger airbag was usually an extra cost option. The car in the video is a 1997 model, you can see the facelift kidney grilles

  • @nwobhmrobert

....I can see fl grills, but the lights are from a 93 e36 and have lens...and there s no passanger airbag.

Im from germany and my 97 e36 have 4 Airbags;-),

  • The best rated car, that year was the Volvo S40. :D

  • OMFG AND I WAS GONNA BUY 1 OF THESE!!!!!!

  • @Peter24397 word me 2

  • @Peter24397 Yeah, don't. We wouldn't like an idiot like you behind the wheel of this amazing breed.

  • they also forgot to mention that it has a 4-cylinder engine in the front, not the usual inline-6. That definitely plays a huge part in the impact as well..

  • @Grifkylian ¨Yeah the 6-syl engine usually ends up more in the passenger compartment :)

  • @MrJallmari is it me or does it look like its a 318 sedan? (it has hubcaps and 325 or 6 cylinder E36 came with only alloys... maybe thats why this seems so bad considering it's a 4 cylinder in there instead?

  • unless the brake system/ABS system had fail, or the driver does not brake at all, or accelerated impact.

  • According to the crash test material on these bmw e36, the impact material was a solid metal block which was not design to absorb impact, and it is a fixed stationary machine used to destroy something,

unless the bmw e36 hit on the armor vehicle (tank) or big tractor?, bus, lorry?.

but in real traffic accident, it will involve with vehicle vs vehicle crash, and both vehicle will bounce away during the impact. that the vehicle is design to absorb impact force,

  • Airbag kill you in this car !

  • People don't seem to get that when a car crumples that is a safety feature. It makes the rapid deceleration easier on the human body.

  • look it says 10G force on it. how often do you see a car do about 10G force crash? i recone this was a test to its possible max doing maybe 200mph

  • I've been driving this car for 7 years now. I've always loved it. Never had an accident yet. Now I'm totally shocked. Never thought that I seriously want to get another safer car right away.

  • @jasiflower If you drive ANY car designed in the 1990s or earlier it will be this bad or worse. For example, watch the tests from the same year of Mercedes C, Audi A4, Saab 900, Rover 600 ect....they are all only 2 stars! Buy a car designed AFTER 1997 and things get much safer.

  • before i bought my porsche 911 i test drove the m3 model of this good cars

  • Note to self: do not crash m3. Will feel it in the morning

  • haha, I don't know what's worse, this BMW 3series or my early 90's Hyundai that I bought for £275, which scored 2stars in the Australian crash test LOL

  • this car was designed in the late 80's, and launched in the early 90's. it met all the safety requirements of that time, plus manufacturers didnt have the super computers we have today. the e36 will never do well in NCAP tests, because the NCAP didnt exist in its time. today, car manufacturers specifically design their cars so that they will do well in the NCAP.

  • @garyproton VERY true indeed. Do not forget this car went on sale in 1990. It was a lot safer than just about all cars from this era. As you said it is not fair crashing an elderly e36 in a modern crash test.

  • @garyproton Excuses, excuses.

    Overrated german crap.

Why can't you just admit it?

    I'm starting to think it's a disease.

  • not good,riskier than škoda!hhhhh

  • ufff.bad,bad, bad....

  • If your disabled already and you dont need your legs buy one lol.

  • Comment removed

  • airbag was slightly late in deploying...

  • I guess it's not that bad since that's crashing into something that doesnt move, but when you crash into another car, the other car will move a bit, making a less crashy crash

  • @gtafan94 If two cars hit eachother the impact-speed will be doubled up, wich i would say; you wont have legs anymore in that BMW.

If 2 cars hit eachother front-front in 60 km/h, it would be like hitting a "immovable" object in 120 km/h or depending on the weight of the other car

  • @violent2k not even a good way to look at it. theres many things you have to think about. like one for example inertia. the cars have kinetic energy and a brick wall doesnt. both cars would fly at impact, compared to if a car hit a brick wall and it would just bounce off..... go to school.

  • The steering wheel slaps your face!

  • @UHF43 LOL I was just thinking that.

  • My father has a 316i from `92, without airbags and he is a very careful driver. Do you imagine to crash somewhere? i don`t want it...

  • had missed the bag

  • If you're driver, you're dead at 0:05...

  • ciekawe ile takich bmw jezdzi w polsce :P

  • lord i have that car thats scarry

  • for all those who ask go to euroncapdotcom to see, the car is rated at 1.5 stars, and there's very little difference between the inline 4 engine and the V6, either ways you're dead

  • boh, never again say there's a V6 beamer engine !

  • @Berzerkka There is nothing like a BMW V6, they only make straight sixes...

  • @Mongoosenr1 well thats what i expressed didnt i ?

  • @Berzerkka Oh sorry, my bad. Did read that you hoped it wasn't a V6 in that car =P

  • w00t my brother has the same car :P(i dont feel good to drive it again)lol

  • WHOOOOPS. There goes my legs ...

  • @SuperBGA and balls.....

  • the car was ´from 91 and had only one airbag.

    The Test in 1997 a 91 Modell

  • dünyanın en güvenli ürün gamına sahip marka ne söylermisiniz?komik olmayın reno artık toros üretmiyo bunu aklınıza sokun...

  • 97 model lagunayı izle bak bakayım lider markayı gör.

  • allahtan bi lagunaya biniyon ezik ,fransiz malina binecegime omur boyu lada kullanmaya ragziyim

  • Only One Star...

  • it was rated only 2 stars and a great risk of losing your life lol

  • i have a 328 '97 cabrio ... how safe u think that is ...pretty sure not a big chance to survive if i get a crash over 80 km/h

  • cabrios and coupes are stiffer in longitude , weaker in torsion and should be safer in frontal colisions, but worse in side impacts

  • @Arlind22 1.5 stars :D

  • @Arlind22 yet my e36 saved my life where no other car would have

  • how many stars ??

  • er 2

  • There should be a difference in result between the 4, and the longer 6 cylinder engine equipped ones

  • yeah, the airbag was like "so how is your da...OH SH?T WE CRAS... ah, nevermind, so how is your day?"

  • airbag is too late and its huge!

  • the airbag was very late!!!!
