Wow, after reading some of the comments on here I feel the need to add my two cents... Not all Americans are as ignorant of the rest of the world as people make it seem. I can understand not be able to differentiate from two accents that are from neighboring counties or states, but to not be able to tell that Craig has a Scottish accent( as opposed to Irish or Australian) is just sad. His accent is just lovely :)

Craig Ferguson's show tends more towards stand-up comedy rather than a conventional late night talk show. I like it, but that's a matter of personal taste.

As for the cruelty factor, I agree that it's disappointing how often people rely on putting down others for a laugh, but there's a difference between harmless jests and truly cruel humor. Ferguson doesn't go out of his way to wound anyone he makes fun of, it's all topical, which is the nature of a talk show. I don't see the harm in it.

First of all, it's ridiculous to think that shallow humor in the mainstream is unique to the United States. Secondly, it's a late night talk show, of course the humor won't be profoundly insightful or high brow. They have a nationwide (and often worldwide) audience to appease, therefore making it impossible for them to delve too deep into poking fun at any specific topic. So they branch out.

As for the gay joke, gays need to be able to laugh at themselves JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.
