Looks like a ton of people dont know about Claypool's audition for Metallica and subsequent relationship with that band.

Claypool did audition for Metallica after Burton died, but he didn't get the job. Lars, Kirk, and James declared him "too talented" for Metallica and advised him to do his own thing. However, LC says that he wouldn't have fit in with Metallica due to his lack of knowledge of Thrash Metal.

Les and Kirk have been friends since school and to the best of my knowledge still are.
