A large part of the problem is how energy is wasted! Look at all the ways energy is being wasted and/or not used efficiently. There are too many street lights, too many lawn mowers and too many gas guzzeling automobiles! Plus many homes leak energy. If we fixed all our leaks that would save billions! LOWER GAS PRICES!
If the federal government would allow the American farmers to grow Hemp again, they could use it instead of corn for fuel, not to mention how it would help global warming. North Dakota has been trying to get permission but the DEA keeps blocking it. Our forefathers used Hemp and it would work again for America; right now America must import all our Hemp products from Canada.

OK, We set price controls on gas. BUT, We import over 1 million gallons of gasoline a day from foreign sources because we have insufficient refineries due to restrictive legislation. WHY would foreign sources sell us gasoline at artificially low prices when they can sell the gas in Europe for dramatically higher prices causing gas scarcity in the US and subsequentely, higher prices. You're dreaming. It IS all about profit. Get over it.
The Oil companies are trying their best to stop free energy ideas from spreading to common people.

My moped gets 100mpg. It is hard to go up hills though about 10mph and fast downhill >50mph ZOOM!
