The ONLY good thing about the Rodimus character, was his toy. As far as the animated series goes, he was one of, if not THE, worst character. A good example of this, was the episode called "The Rude Awakeing of Optimus Prime". Look it up on Youtube, and you'll see what I mean. This asshole character had all of the appeal of badly cooked salsibury steak.

I'm a rodimus and optimus prime fan and a lot of people didn't get that optimus started similarly to rodimus in the series ie didn't want to be the leader, had his doubts, others helped him out, I prefered rodimus in the film and it sucked that he didn't get his chance in the series ie when he finally realised the matrix needs him and how important he was to the autobots he turned it around then next episode the writers pissed that away and dropped his character development he almost killed

I liked Hot Rod, but considering that most of the S3 characters showed up out of the blue didn't appeal to me. They killed off some of my favorites and made others just disappear. Like Hound, my personal fav, was neverseen again after S2. And you are right about the ADHD writers, gosh... They couldn't carry a theme if it jumpe don their backs. They hardly gave some introductions. Abominus and Predaking showed up out of nowhere and they expected everyone to go "Oh Snap, look at that!"

I agree. Bringing back Optimus was like a record scratch. People don't come back from the dead no matter how much we want them to, something Rodimus and the others needed to come to grips with.

The Five Faces of Darkness continued this, but then suddenly the writers decided to turn him into a wishy washy leader. They misread the performance of the movie in the box office. It was not going to do good whether Optimus lived or died. They used that as an excuse to kill the Rodimus character and then eventually kill the G1 series. It could have lasted another 2-3 seasons with minor tweaks.

in the continuation of g1 in japan after optimus died again, rodimus gave the leadership to a random autobot and tried to look for a planet without decepticons to get away from the war which was stupid since he was made leader again after optimus died again in headmasters but they threw it away along with everything else.

Thats the thing. People that have ONLY seen the movie and barely paid attention to Season 3-4 dont get that. But Combatmaster I see you do. I am one who HATES Rodimus. Since it was until after we bought Hot Rod that Rodimus Prime came out. Ultra Magnus is another who is exactly the same as Optimus Prime except White until you put the trailer on him. It was definately the toy which is why we hate certain Transformers and love others.
I never get tired of that scene in the movie when hot rod transforms and tears up the grass on his way to "lookout mountain" at.20 seconds into this clip

Oh yeah! Galvatron's strength combined with actual INTELLIGENCE as Megatron's ( read: i think galvatron is awful), it would have been over for the Bots I think. Come to think about it, who of US would have done better as leaders anyway, if we were in the same circumstances as Roddy? He gave it a try and tried hard and that is really awsome.
Yeah, Galvatron was only good for comedy value (check out the "Insanity of Galvatron" videos here on youtube if you haven't already). In some episodes of the 3rd season they tried to make Cyclonus the brains of the decepticon's plans, but mostly he's just a bumbling henchman - a pity they didn't make him smarter, it could have worked well.
Yeah i've seen them, god they are hilarious! I wonder how come Galvatron suddenly got such a whiny voice?? When he was first "created" after Megatron went to the uniscrap one could say, he had the most cool voice! Now he's got this weird... annoying crow voice that is a rip off of starscream's sometimes, hehe. Oh well it's fun anyway.

@lxhinata Technically he stole it from Galvatron, who stole it from Magnus. And remember, Optimus said that one day a leader shall rise from among their ranks, so he didn't necessary make Magnus the leader. Just passed the Matrix on to him to protect it, whch he did a lousy job of doing. ; )

It was kinda a thing of happenstance and fate. In Season 3 even some of the Autobots thought he was a lot different leader than Optimus, and Hot Rod himself sometimes questioned his own leadership skills, but he's a great leader, a lil inexperienced, but worthy and totally awesome!

Thats the thing. People that have ONLY seen the movie and barely paid attention to Season 3-4 dont get that. But Combatmaster I see you do. He was a great leader, though he had HUGE shoes to fill and alot of expectations. Especially from Kup and Ultra Magnus. Magnus being the rightful heir to Optimus, but it wasnt meant to be. It was for Rodimus. And he did the best he could. Though he may not have been ready, The Matrix chose him, so he did his best

I am one who HATES Rodimus. Since it was until after we bought Hot Rod that Rodimus Prime came out. Ultra Magnus is another who is exactly the same as Optimus Prime except White until you put the trailer on him. It was definately the toy which is why we hate certain Transformers and love others.

Rodimus is a total wimp! He is too immature to be the leader and whenever there's problem he just says " give me a break!" and drives off. Oh yeah, what a leader HE is. And he's whining all the time and he hates to do the "boring" parts as leader, like doing speeches about peace.

Yes he's immature and yes he's not nearly as cool as optimus, but the idea was that he a) hasn't got optimus' millenia of experience b) bears a terrible burden for being mostly responsible for prime's death c) has to face even greater challenges like the quintessons and d) everyone expects him to be as good as Optimus, the greatest autobot ever. No, I don't like him much, but you have to keep these things in mind.

I do. However i find it odd to praise him for the LEADERSHIP. I think it's cool that he at least does an effort. For that i admire him alot. But to say he's a great leader is well... you know what i mean. But I dont hate him or anything, i feel with him for what he has to go through. Poor guy :( but he cant lead, he's not fit for that.
It's actually a cool thing they did that with him in the series. It shows that you CAN become the leader, even when you're not ready for it.

Good point, I agree. Oh, and he's very lucky that Galvatron got his circuits scrambled. Galvatron's strength and Megatron's cunning would have been too much for poor Rodiums to handle I think!

Oh yeah! Galvatron's strength combined with actual INTELLIGENCE as Megatron's ( read: i think galvatron is awful), it would have been over for the Bots I think. Come to think about it, who of US would have done better as leaders anyway, if we were in the same circumstances as Roddy? He gave it a try and tried hard and that is really awsome.

Yeah, Galvatron was only good for comedy value (check out the "Insanity of Galvatron" videos here on youtube if you haven't already). In some episodes of the 3rd season they tried to make Cyclonus the brains of the decepticon's plans, but mostly he's just a bumbling henchman - a pity they didn't make him smarter, it could have worked well.

Yeah i've seen them, god they are hilarious! I wonder how come Galvatron suddenly got such a whiny voice?? When he was first "created" after Megatron went to the uniscrap one could say, he had the most cool voice! Now he's got this weird... annoying crow voice that is a rip off of starscream's sometimes, hehe. Oh well it's fun anyway.
