He stated his position better than anyone else there. There was no pandering to anybody. He said what he felt, unfiltered. What makes him special is that he seems genuine and doesn't engage in the standardized garbage political talk you seem to think is good politics.
Also, he's not a conservative. A conservative wishes to conserve, to keep the status quo. He's very much opposed to what is currently going on, as anyone with sense should be.
So basically, you want him to not say what he thinks and compromise.
Politicians being dishonest and compromising is what got the US in its current state. Ron Paul never compromised and he's been elected a bunch of times. That's part of his appeal. If Schiff is of the same mold, great.
Also, I don't think he's cost himself anything. Any local write-up I've seen about the debate has been positive. Usually what is said is that he's genuine. How is that losing anything? People have to vote yet.
Why should he have to hide his views? He's just being open and honest. According to the GAO, at the current rate, Social Security will collapse in the next 15-20 years. And as someone that is not elderly, I would want it cut, because by the time I reach the age, it will either not exist or be so reduced that it's useless. I suspect I'm not the only one that feels this way.
I'd like to see the whole debate but we all know this is the best candidate so get this video out to others.
