I think this video is a good artistic interpretation of the songs "atmosphere" . The contrasting visuals if the girl with delicate features and graceful movements, compared to the heavy industry, dirt & raw power, her uninhibited expression, relaxed facial expression & body posture & soft movement as compared to the rigid, organized discipline of mass production and running a factory with lots of people. Some how complement each other, like she or her relatives could live and work on such a town

@stevebeagle actually, the word they used was degrading, Sire records created the Video, which wasnt okayed by the band, but the band were contractually obliged to Sire on a number of levels, it was this videos release and the sucess of the song on college radio which broke the american market for the smiths, morrisey has since stated he sees the artwork in the video, although the angie svenmarr thing is myth, hate to ruin the mystery but thats it.
