It's so pathetic how the Accounting Clubs in school makes such a big deal about the recruiting events and stuff. What's sad is that all these stupid young people are tricked into thinking that working for an accounting firm is the only way to succeed. The firms got everyone drinking their "kool-aid" and washing their brain with it. So lame when people would step on each other's toes to get ahead. Plus, these firms hire a bunch of young, white douchebags who look the "part".
@goldenerreiter1 do you really think that anybody would let an intern or a first year have full authority over a client project? the intern works on it and their work is evaluated by upper management.
@goldenerreiter1 well i'm really sorry. i'm going to be interning with pwc in atlanta this summer, and i know for a fact that interns are doing the same work as first year associates, i.e. actual work (even though it's probably not very intricate work). i guess you do have to remember that each office is a separate entity.
Well, nevertheless you seem to have a low expectation of Big-Four standards if you think that peaople who work there do not know that every firm is a different legal entity is. Hope your internship will not make that impression worse.
Nevertheless, you should not forget that people who have taken an internship at a big company always say that their experiences were great. Even if it is only with the purpose to make their own experiences look more valuable.
@goldenerreiter1 don't get me wrong, i'm not denying that your experience was truly bad or that mine could possibly be. i'm also not saying that pwc is the greatest company or anything (because i don't know this for sure), but i am very much looking forward to starting there if only because i'm ready to move beyond school and start learning more about real world business.
@goldenerreiter1 well i was interviewed by a partner, met him once, and 6 months later when i was hired (not by him), on induction training, he gave a presentation and remembered my name, and he is one of the Senior Audit partners, and he's a busy man. So...
I work for PW for 5 years from 89 to 94 in Boston and i would recommend it to anyone .i work with some great people over those 5 years it does not blow

At PwC tax returns are done by interns?
Well a good way to cut costs, sure.
But is that the "high-value service" the clients are paying for (with their shareholders money!)?

Boy, I work at a "Big Four" company.
The interns do nothing (!) because nobody wants (even has the time) to explain the job thoroughly..
Well, sometimes they make copies, or correct some mistakes in a PPT-presentation.
Thats it.
The "magical" world of an accounting-intern.
And "upper management"?
Even lower management would not bother much to even say hello to an intern.
Too busy!
