Anybody that would walk away from a classic Chev Pick-up like that needs to get their ass beat! LOL Yeah, spend $3,500 on that beautiful old truck or $30,000 on a new Chev truck?... Hmmmmm
Thank God I'm not the only one that thought this whole commercial was awkwardly eerie. I understand emotional attachment but DAMN the direction, music, casting, etc is just OFF.
With all these people saying that this commercial gives an emotional attachment to a car and it being odd and weird. You have to remember that this is a commercial from a big business company. Their goal was to get you remember the name Chevy for longer then 30 seconds. If you happen to search online for Chevy, then Chevy did their job. Advertising isn't the same as it was before. Before, it was to try and make sales, now it is all about brand awareness.
Okay, I get where you're coming from. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for someone to be fired for the making of this commercial. It won "Best Microfilm" at this years Tribeca Film Festival.
@Mary- We all get the commercial, it's the execution of the commercial that is weird, creepy, and white trash-esq. The directing was awkward, and the casting was terrible. Someone should be fired over this stinker.
Apparently the previous post was from someone who has never had an emotional attachment to a car. I don't know...maybe they are not Americans or they have some sort of emotional detachment disorder. The truck was his fathers. His father gave it to him and he wants to be able to give it to his son. It's his classic Chevy; like a beloved family member. The fact that you don't get it says more about you than the commercial.
@maryjeffreys Hello Mary. I'm positive that everyone critiquing this commercial understands the extremely simple premise. What we are talking about is how the execution is pure crap. It's the commercial equivalent to The Room or Troll 2. It's probably the most poorly made commercial I've ever seen. I'm actually a bit surprised that you would think that people don't "get it." I think it's hilarious that you felt it necessary to explain the plot. It goes to show that America is full of stupidity.
@jimponds I shouldn't say America and leave it at that. Of course Americans have a cocky sense of "I'm better than everyone else that I don't know anything about because I'm too busy eating fast food and watching TV to care but I"m the best even though I'm uneducated and obese." The entire world is full of stupidity. Humanity is the worst. It's not just you. I'm just as guilty. I think I'm better than you, for example.
@jimponds I don't understand why people hate America so much. Yeah we get involved in way to much shit that's not our business. The thing is you have probably never been to America and don't know what it's like here. The thing is that there are the same type of people here that are in europe. Yeah there are some disgustingly fat people here, but guess what? Not every one is fat! That's right, shocker isn't it. Everything that you see on tv isn't true! everyone here aren't arrogant little bitches
Oh man, I just saw the commercial and decided to look it up to see if anyone thought it was odd too. And I was right. I was watching Conan and I actually paused it and brought someone in my room to watch the commercial. That girl really creeped me out. Somethings very wrong there.
This ad almost makes me cry, which is very hard to do

It's a good commercial to strengthen their current consumer base, but looking at the comments, it probably won't win over any new customers.
