I agree with most things except the story structure one. Just sometimes stories start in conflict and other wierd stuff. Not all poetic language is horrible either. The Last Unicorn by Peter S Beagle is so frickin poetic and one of the most beautifully written stories I've ever read. It's just so poetic. It's an overload.
Meyer has too much use of the word "like" for a novelist.
Although I must say not all poetic language is like Meyer's. Is mine better?
EX: The radiant light of the sun bounded over his pale skin, which scattered its rays as if over fragments of diamond. (Not defending Meyer BTW I think she's a hack)
I was saying that maybe after you've finished school you'd be able to have a thought-provoking or, at the very least, interesting response to my video that has nothing to do with my appearance but instead is about what I'm actually trying to say.
But I don't completely excuse your less-than-intelligent remarks on your educations level because you don't have to be smart to be polite.
You, however are demonstrating to me that you're neither.
Okay...seriously hon, I think you need some help if you actually die rather than give up Twilight. A book series should not be the most important thing in your life.
I'm surprised that you're videos haven't garnered a lot of views because you bring up a lot of good points. I'm glad that you brought up the term "purple prose" because it explains a lot about how authors are over-descriptive. Another author that I accuse of this is Anne Rice. She, and nearly the entire genre of romance (but in that case, I can understand the use of purple prose because it makes their stories less pornographic, and even romance authors are aware of the problem). Good vid.
-sips drink- My grape koolaid is very purpley. ;) Anywho, watching this vid made me confirm to myself that I'll never read the books. She seriously doesn't need that many damn descriptions on his appearance. Granted, I will say as an HP fan that the one flaw I had was that Rowling used the lightning scar adjective too often, but if you hadn't read the previous books, the reader wouldn't have known that... so it made sense atleast. Meyer = utter bullshit with storywriting capabilities though.
These videos are amazing- I agree 110% with everything you've said. Her inability to follow her own cannon was infuriating. With regards to her purple prose and her overuse of adverbs, the scariest part is that Meyer actually WAS an English major in college. You know, I actually liked the first book, and I think it would have been okay as a stand-alone novel. Everything else that followed it was terrible and contradicted itself, and the screaming fangirls just make me hate it even more.

Just deal with it it's done it's over with u guys can complain all you want but it doesn't change anything books published the movie is filmed and being filmed so just deal with it!
I accept that Twilight has been published. If it hadn't been, then I wouldn't be able to discuss it, and that's all I'm doing, it expressing my opinion about it. I have no problems with it be published, but I do have problems with it being popular.
UGH. Just...UGH. Stop tossing your brain in the microwave ITS NOT FUNNEH!!!
Books are meant to promote discussion and thought. Books are intended to be analyzed and interpreted. Readers aren't supposed to walk away from a book and go, "OMGZ EDWARD IS TEH SEX!". They're suppose to question, think, and discuss.
Great job. I love purple prose, but to me it's like sprinkles on ice cream. You can't just eat sprinkles, you need the ice cream (in this case, a PLOT!). Too much of it is annoying. I can't stand how shallow Twilight is, but moreover I can never call Meyer an authoress for the sheer fact alone she steamrolls over her OWN canon and fails to explain any she tries to set up. Continuity is hard, but Breaking Dawn was like a bad fanfic for Twilight itself.
i love this xD

Tell me that after you finish high school, hon. Maybe then you'll have a far more intelligent* criticism then "I need to fix my teeth."
* INTELLIGENT is spelled that way, and not like "intellegent."
Just trying to help you with your spelling ^.^

So what? There are many books that are around and which recieve plenty of criticism. Should we lay off on them simply because they exist?
No.
