@wolfysluv That's a Frizzle Cochin. Its actually a fancy breed of cochin with a genetic mutation which causes them to grow their feathers all curly. You can order them from hatcheries, but there is a slight chance they won't grow curly feathers.

@SilverMoonling I thank you SO much. I grew up with full blooded Silikes. I adored them. But this? This has so much more personality, ya know? And if I got into chickens again, it would be perfect. A super meek species might not do as well because we live near woods and have passing cats, dogs, etc. So are you saying you can't tell by the chicks if they will turn out well? Are there hatcheries with better odds/rates than others with that?

@wolfysluv Your welcome! I actually have a few frizzles myself, and they are small chickens/egg layers but they are quite hilarious to watch. And yeah, you can't tell if they will have the curly feathers until the chicks start growing feathers. There was a hatchery I looked up called Frizzled Feathers Farm that said it was generally a 50% chance they will be frizzles, though I'm not sure if the chance is better for other hatcheries.
