True about Winston. In both the movie and cartoon, he seemed to be the voice of reason, he aired on the side of common sense while the others were either too "intellectual" or to sarcastic, lol!
winston actually gets way more screen time in the cartoons then the movies.....but then again any true ghosthead would know that Ernie Hudson acutally auditioned for his part in the cartoon..and lost out to arsinio hall
This was rather cool, Winston always had common sense in both the cartoon and film. He also is a good counterbalance to all the technical aspects of Egon/Ray, and a good compliment to Peter's sense of humor.

Winston was supposed to represent the part of the audience that has no idea what rest of the ghostbusters are talking about. He should 've had a bigger part. I've actually talked to people who don't even remember him being in this movie or the sequel.
It doesn't matter that their in over their heads, they know they're the only ones who can stop Gozer.
When they were in jail, Egon, Ray and Peter kept talking about how Gozer could destroy the planet. Which shows they're trying to stop that from happening. Here, Wintson only thinks about himself, not helping people.
Peter's reaction suggests that they still see Winston as "hired help", and not a true ghostbuster, or friend.
If Winston only cared about himself he could've just walked away at anytime. The fact that he chose to stay and risk his life with the others proves that he IS a true ghostbuster.
remeber Winston stood up to the mayor. " I have seen shit that will turn you white!" He helped convince the Mayor what was going on and that they needed help. Winston was down for the cause.
