  • Wonderful Song. I can listen to this all day long

  • the Melody is Deep!......Love it!

on a 2nd note, i don't think i wanna know the meaning, the melody is enough to let me drift away in my own thoughts!

    lovely song!

its the song playing the background for the movie ''IJE'': THE JOURNEY!.

  • Asa, this is truly an excellent song. Such amazing command and use of the Yoruba language - Poetic and the orchestration with modern strings and the chord changes is amazingly wonderful. Recent deep listening on an excellent professional studio monitoring system in a good listening environment, has allowed me to really appreciate this piece of oustanding musical mastery.

I thinks it's Asa's best song by a long shot and probably the best produced. Amazing truly fulfilling and satisfying music

  • @kunleodebode EYE ADABA IS ALSO WONDERFUL AND KIRA FUN MAMA.

  • she sounds kinda like sade in a way

  • LIKE THIS JAM RIGHT HERE.

  • beautiful!

  • "Awe" is like calling someone in order to ask a question. Its asking a man (Muyina) about his whereabouts , and the young woman who used to live next door to him. It so happens she is now two months pregnant. Sekina gives birth to a Beautiful son Wahidi. She is now living the experince of motherhood....

This is just a summary of the song, so pardon me

  • @Oi2know

You tried but waidi is the main guy being asked ...his mother is muyina

  • There is something hauntingly beautiful and lasting about her music. Wish I could hear more from her....

  • @chagwenito

    MTV is all abt entertainment.

    (the story goes on)

She finally gives birth x2 Safely

    asa you are wonderful

  • She was in Central Park last week and I had no idea who she was, so I missed her set to see LEs Nubians (they sucked). I headr Asa's last song while I was in line and I was blown away...She is Fantastic.

  • OMG! Im only in detroit, i would have come to NY if i knew she was there!

  • j'adore, c'est excellent, je ne me lasse pas d'écouter son album, tous les morceaux sont excellents, franchement elle est top, super top

  • can anything be more beautiful than this?

  • she is just AMAZING!!!

  • fan bloody tastic !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Asa's delivery in superb in many ways. One first step to understanding "Awe" is to view a transliteration of the lyrics. This is superb storytelling; sublime drama: picture the young Wahidi; lives with his Aunt; has a woman pregnant for him old enough to be his mother. The magic isn't in the events alone - scandalous, yes - but the delivery by Wahidi's aunt who is herself a nursing mother...This is a tribute to Asa's budding genius; it's sheer brilliance. Cobhams Asuquo gets some +ve points here

  • Simply Beautiful!

  • I WANT TO SEE HER DO A PIECE WITH INDIA ARIE. i think it will be awesome!

  • She have so amazing voice...

I love she so much..Asa is The Best..

    Mo nife e...forever!!

  • i love u asa.... ur simply innovative like a female version of lagbaja. You have not decided to deviate into the realm of hip hop but to stay deeply rooted in the precepts of our culture as well as providing us with the best soothing music money can buy. Big ups naija..... haters? GET LOST!!!!!

  • well...sorry for interrupting...but i dont think AWA and LAGBAJA can be compare to each other...they but have different purpose...i mean different way of expressing their message...

  • 驚為天人....

  • asa you are simply great, WHAT.

  • oloyun fun o, wahidi omo sekina, anti to loyun fun o oto bi o lomo. lol

  • CAPTIVATING...

  • I dont completely understand the lyrics, but you know what....." I get it"

  • i completely agree!

  • sure

  • i dont think i completely get the lyrics.

    "ire ni imu...ese, irun ori"

I think i understand that as the nose is yours and the hair.

but then she goes to say, he's dark and the child's fair-skined.

so my question...is it Wahidi's child OR NOT?

  • d child is a bastard

  • yeh we figure. but is the child his or not? or was that whole verse idiom for the child is a bastard?

  • Love it!.. What a beautiful voice.

  • Deji, Thanks for posting the lyrics. I sooo love this song.

  • Absolutly Amazin!

  • FEEL'N IT...

  • Spectacular

  • I dont know what more to say...you guys have said all...Asa!!!you dont have talent, you'r a talent on its own...

  • Hahaha!!!

Wahidi omo sekina Omo muyina Omo mohammed.

Asa is so philosphical. She portrays through music the intricacies of socio-cultural life in a country so vast in resources, but not without it's own versions of life's many struggles and challenges which we all as humans face.

That's why her music has no cultural, racial, ethnic boundaries. She's loved all over the world.

  • There's something about her songs...it communicates with your soul sort of...anyone feel me?

  • she is mindcatcher and Absolutely deep in thought.

  • i discovered asa,s music when i was in poland this january. she is just too good

  • Asa is not spectacular - spectacular is what rarely happens to normal people. This girl

    is "genius stuff"!

  • sing it asa! your a gorgeous soul baby!

  • Asa is the truth....

  • I'm shocked that my name is in the song...it's not a very common name but I guess she's made it one now :)

  • lol....Waheedi...omo Sekinah...

  • i love this song and this is my first time hearing it and just learned it too from the lyrics...now the funnest thing is that I dont know what she is saying but I guess its cause i speak a little Yoruba that i can pick up on the lyrics fast, better then her song fire on the mountain lol!

  • hey...I am from a country you won't believe Asa's voice could ever reach...I am from Iran and i absolutely love her... she opened up a new window to the great Nigerian culture and people...God bless her

  • oh how i love asa

  • deep song very strong it grabs my soul

  • necesito conseguir su musica / need to get her music...

  • Nice ;)

  • this is a story about a relatioship out of wed lock which ended up in pregnancy and the man disappearing while the lady who appears to be older than the guy eventually single handedly had the baby. Hence the song emphasizes on the guy (waheedi) being asked 'where have you been, Awe (which means mister)'

  • so much soul coming from words i don't understand!

  • omo..aunti oooooooo oto bi ou lomo...

e wo duu duu omo pupa lol

    waheedi omo seekiinaa....nice song

  • I love Asa, but I don't know the meaning to these words... can you give me the gist of it. Music is powerful... even though I don't understand what she's saying, I'm still touched by it. That's odd. Break it down for a sister please!

  • Asha rocks at all times

  • waheedi omo seekiinaa!

my first time to listen to asa

    she's so inspiring.

songs that can cool a worried mind

    go on gal

  • My Nigerian girl.

  • This is OLASCO...and am saying...THIS IS THE SONG THAT MAKES ME LOVE U

  • Gosh, lovely voice....

    The songs is really hilarious....

    Where da hell she's?

    Any idea anyone?

    and where is she from?

  • She lives in France and from Nigeria.

    I hope that helps.

ASA you are wonderful.Thump up for you.

  • This is my favourite song, i just have to listen to it everyday, simply Beautiful.

  • i want to buy the cd and im just wonderin..........does the cd have lyrics

  • The story is meant to be dramatic and funny............

  • Thanks nubianqueenn for the explanation. for me, whether i understand it or not, it still sounds beautiful. :o)

  • Part 5:

The baby doesn't quite look like Waheedi and his aunt comments on this:

"How come you are dark skinned and the baby is light skinned?"

A fight starts that led to the Kings Palace

She (the aunt) mentions how they are related through his mum and grandmother. She ends the song by telling him she has enough problems on her plate, and he is adding to her problems... so she is not in the mood to deal with his own issues too.

  • Part 4:

When Waheedi eventually turns up, his aunt confronts him and what she's saying is the basis of the song. She is asking:

"Where have you been for the past three days? How come that woman who is old enough to be your mother said she is pregnant and it's your baby?"

Anyway, when his lover finally gives birth to the baby, there are more questions than answers.

  • Part 3:

In the meantime, the pregnant woman goes to his house to look for him ( Waheedi) and met his aunt. She tells the aunt that she is looking for Waheedi and she is carrying his baby. His aunt is obviously not pleased to hear this.

  • Then one day Wahidi met a woman. She is older than him but it doesn't matter, they fall in love. Their relationship is deep and passionate, and then this woman got pregnant. She told Waheedi about the pregnancy and he vanished for three days.

  • This is a story about a young man (Waheedi), his aunt and his lover. He stayed with his aunt, and she helps him to secure a job. For some time, everything is fine. He goes to work everyday, comes home everyday and he gets on well with his aunt.

  • can someone please translate?? i love this song but i dont know what it means...please please please translate!!!

  • lol. MY CD is scratched because this song and SUBWAY are the most played songs on the album. This babe and her crew are the best new thing Naija has produced in recent times. Her brand of music is appealing to any music person of any race, you dont have to be a nigerian to appreciate it(unlike the noisy so called hip hop music you hear from some naija artistes!!except for gongo aso of cus.lol). My good pal is Chinese and she be loving Asa. I pray she keeps this up. Asa for president.ROFLMAO
