  • What is this from? The Terry from this looks different from the other terry on the actual show.

  • 1:00 makes this the best line said on television.

  • what happen to terry's brother?

  • they need to make a season 4 to batman beyond because it finished with a lot of untold stories

  • The REALLY cool thing about the whole story is that even though the original plan didn't go through Terry STILL ended up being Batman in the end. :)

  • Great way to finish off justice league, devote an entire episode to batman beyond fuckin eh!!!

  • Bruce left his DNA all over town? HAHAHA

  • @acoti you would think someone whould just take it do a comparison and say "HEY this DNA matches with Bruce Wayne. THAT MEANS HE IS BATMAN OMG"

  • lol @ "Not REMOTELY what I meant!"

  • LoL i love reading the comments to see fans having a go at each other xD. I love Batman and Batman Beyond

  • WRONG Damion is the only son of the Bat

  • @Cjmagnificent Damian Wayne does not exist in the DC animated universe. In the DCAU, Terry and his kid brother are his only sons, and even then not by his own making, as it were, but by Amanda Waller's.

  • @FlameG102 Terry does however exist in the DC Comic universe, and there he is not Bruce's son. I'll go with my original statement on this on. Damian is the only son of the Bat

  • how is that relevant AT ALL to the DCAU..?

  • @Cjmagnificent in the comics. Plus TIm Drake is his adopted son and Cassandra Cain is his adoptive daughter.

  • Terry: But what if I came out a girl?

    Walker: :|

  • @arouetproductions actually I've got a fanfic about that. Terra McGinnies. You see she from a paralle universe that impolded on itself. And her biometicec energy frequncey shifted to match Terry's world. So she crossed over to Terry's world and became both his twin sister and the new Batgirl. Her suit is like Terry's only midnight blue with waist length black hair. I'm a little stuck right now with it. but it still pretty good. Maybe you should read it?

  • wow this story is pretty messed up. It reminds me of Metal gear solid story line though.

  • The DNA all over town had to be the best damn joke I've ever heard in a cartoon

  • @ThePhychoHero lool it meant sleeping around with different girls right?

  • @jsh2day1 No that's what Terry was thinking (or supposed to be thinking) but the animation that goes with the line show them collect blood, presumably from a battle scene between Batman and one of his foes.

  • This shit is retarded I only like Batman Beyond.

  • This makes it even more annoying that hardly any of the DCAU is available on DVD in the UK, i have to rely on youtube vids to see full episodes of STAS and JL/JLU which will probably be removed any second now, just wish WB wouldn't be so restrictive with the region 2 releases, they've deprived me of the best parts of my childhood which i'll probably never get back, not fair

  • This seems like a major retcon.

  • @BenjaminWirtz Its not a retcon if it was never explained before. And it was a bit odd that despite his mother being a redhed and his father having brown hair, and both of them having dark eyes, that he got Black hair and blue eyes? Im pretty sure we all thought about it at some point, that he shares a curious few features with bruce.

  • 1 atheist was offended by the bible talk.

  • uh, tragedy and genetics arent the entire story. bruce would never have been batman without the near unlimited resources,: the gadgets, the suit, the cave, the car? Terry wouldn't have had those without bruce.

  • the assasin was the phantasm!

  • Bruce Wayne & Terry Mcginnis have the same DNA they're a father & son.

  • "Andrea!"

  • anyone else notice the grey ghost was the movie they saw?

  • @madskillz808 looks close but it isn't the same, he has guns, the assassin has a blade

  • @riotguards the assasin with the blade for a hand was the phantasm, i was refering to the billboard of the movie young terry saw with his parents 'the grey ghost strikes'. the grey ghost was a character from a tv show bruce wayne loved as a kid. he made an apperance in the origal batman animated show voiced by none other than adam west (who needs no introduction). its little things like that which make great cartoons :P

  • @madskillz808 The original wearer of the "Assasin" costume was one of Bruces former lovers, Andrea

  • @madskillz808 the grey ghost.....hmmmmmm that rings a bell somewhere

  • @Zazzy235 it was Bruce Wayne's personal hero

The episode of the Animated series

Beware the grey ghost with special guest star Adam West.

  • wtf this is from justice league??

  • Here's a thought. Terry's parent's nearly had an identical psychological profiles similar to Bruce Wayne's parents. And Terry's parents had a divorce. Makes you think: would Bruce's parents have the fateful night ended up getting a divorce later on?

  • @TheMrchoochootwain have survived*

  • Was that the Phantasm?

  • i haven't seen this before so i don't really know what's going on but HOLY CRAP THAT"S THE PHANTASM

  • It was a great way to make it all make sense. It seemed too casual that, especially after everything and at his age, he'd take in the first stray and give them the costume.

  • what ever happend to robin?

  • Ya think that terrys parents divorice had something to do with Wallers plan. I mean terry didnt have red hair and may have looked like his wife cheated.

  • its the tragic moments that creates batman b cuz if bruce parents didnt die he wouldnt be batman

  • Is it me or does terry look like a cartoon version of elvis from 68

  • It's been years and Amander Waller hasn't change... her clothes

  • ok, i love this idea of him being bruce's son and etc., but am i the only one who noticed that waller is OUT OF HER EFFING MIND!?!?!? SHE WAS GONNA KILL HIS PARENTS!?!?!?

  • 2 thing one wouldn't his dad thing his wife cheat on him when his kid had black hair and second to make a second batman she hired someone to kill his parents to drive him to become batman beyond WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of the most powerful monologues in the history of cartoons. And I've been watching them for 40 years.

  • So this is batman beyond on justice league right?

  • @TheWolfman510 it's both. It's one of the final episodes of Justice League Unlimited but it was also meant to be an ending of the Batman Beyond universe.

  • @bprulz I like it. But I think the new 3D batman show will suck

  • @TheWolfman510 yeah I've been reading up on that. I'm not too thrilled by the sound of it, either. I'll check it out, though.

  • @bprulz Smallville xD

  • The Grey Ghost, the Phantasm, wow so many references.

  • The assassin has a strong resemblance to the older version of Barbara Gordon shown in the Batman Beyond Movie. Is it her, or is it simply a look-alike?

  • @TheWavatarian DCAU's Barbara Gordon would be strongly opposed to the plan if she knew (to say the least, since she's a by-the-book, career police officer). She did initially disapprove of Bruce talking Terry into becoming the Batman. No, the assassin is the Phantasm, most likely an older Andrea Beaumont, from Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.

  • Cross Title Drop!

In an episode episode of the Batman Beyond "justice league unlimited" is mentioned,

on this episode of JLU "Batman Beyond" is mentioned.

  • [[2:05]] It's the Phantasm the first Batman cartoon movie, "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm"!

  • What happened to Dana after he Grew up?

  • @calvinngonguyen at the end of the episode he calls her to see if they're still going out on friday, and he opens a small box with a ring on it and he says he wants to ask her something, but not until they go out, then they hang up and super old batman walks in.

look in the related videos in this video and look for "The Final ending to Batman".

  • Any Batman Beyond fans that liked the character of Terry a lot more before someone came up with this goofy errata about making him Bruce Wayne's son? Wasn't the whole point of Batman Beyond suppose to be this idea that Batman had lots of heirs that took up his mantle and that it wasn't the blood, but the strength of character that made them the hero?

  • @note4note i havent read any batman comics, they wherent made where i lived. so for me this is the cannon version

  • @note4note I still think that even though Terry ended up being his son it didn't take away from the fact that he, Terry, was still a great Batman due to his strength of character. If anything, this episode just reinforced the idea that Terry made a good Batman because he was a strong person and not because he was made of Bruce's flesh and blood.

  • @pyro43261 I suppose, I think it more is just an issue of being a completely unneeded twist that added nothing to the character at all. Even the plan that was concocted is so ridiculously convoluted that it actually made the story less believable than how the original origin for Terry worked out.

  • @pyro43261 EXACTLY, it was about the character, not blood relation, which was why this was an incredibly stupid thing to do, you don't need to relate the main character to a past figure, and you end up making the series weaker as a whole because of it.

  • @note4note on the upside, this was never aired on Batman Beyond, just Justice League Unlimited, so if you only count what happens in series without crossovers that aired on different shows, then this never happened.

  • @note4note

    Completley agree.

I found it did nothing but take a giant dump on Terry, his own "Father" and to some extent Bruce.

  • @note4note Honestly, that was the entire point of this episode. The reason Terry is so whiny throughout this entire episode is because he feels lied to, that all his personal achievement is worthless since it's already "in his blood." The entire scene with Amanda Waller telling him about their differences and similarities is to point out that, yes, he is Bruce's son, but he's his own person, and his character, not his blood, makes him a hero.

  • @note4note Also, the whole "Terry is Bruce's son" idea actually does have a basis in series. Terry has black hair, whereas his parents have red and brown, which is genetically impossible. This is often believed to have been part of Terry's parent's separation; Terry's dad may have suspected infidelity.

This episode was actually going to be an entire season in Batman Beyond, but that idea was scrapped for some reason or other.

  • @note4note It did seem like a very forced idea to be sure. I mean, it's pretty random how they did it. That being said, I think the episode was very well executed. It did a great job with the emotional level. Ace's death scene remains to this day one of my favourite Batman moments ever.

  • @note4note When did they show that he was Bruces son?

  • @note4note Yea but remember he never married and there were moments were he stop taking in disciples to be robin. So at some point he would be alone and because of his influence to the world the Government did this

  • @note4note The idea was there the whole time look at both mccginnis' parents they are redheads while terry and matt are black haired. Also in some episodes then relationship was hinted at. It just wasn't able to be put in the actual series. Also it was terrys character that he became batman he made the choice.

  • @tenkenroo Yeah the clues were there all along and yeah DNA only got him so far the rest was his own drive and heart.

  • I'm sorry but is he Terry that used to go out with Dana?

  • I can't seem to be able to find this on Amazon or ITunes. I can't find a Season 4 of any of the Batman Beyond or Justice League shows.

  • @Torvar2025 Look for Justice League Unlimited.

  • Not remotely what I meant

  • Just like Bruce, Terry experienced tragedy when he lost his step dad Warren Mcginnis thanks to Mr Fixx and Derek Powers

  • this is a magnificent example of why DC is smart & Marvel is for kids.

  • @Sykeye7 You're right ab

  • @AIRTUBEY sorry typo "about

  • @Sykeye7

How is Marvel for kids? Have you ever seen any of the new Avengers episodes. Spectacular Spiderman, even Spiderman TAS,Xmen 90's.

All those are prime examples of just as good and deep storytelling as DC had with Bruce Timm

  • @snake2006 I know,I saw them. But the Avengers episodes still look flashy & over heroic,if you know what I mean. And those are Marvel's most modern episodes of their heroes. The Hulk movies are...overated & the Spectacular Spiderman show I cannot even compare with DC's creations in terms of "deep-ness". Watch Under The Red Hood & Barman:Year One. Excellent action & storyline, focused on the personality & drama of Batman.

  • @Sykeye7

I have seen Batman Year One and Under the Red Hood. But Batman is a darker character than most of Marvel's heroes outside of the Punisher,Deadpool and Daredevil.

I never mentioned the Hulk movies, and I think the Xmen 90's show did a fairly good job and so did Spectactular Spiderman and Spiderman TAS

  • Imagine that: the original Batman AND the future Batman liked the Gray Ghost :D

  • This show had balls...bringing in suggestive themes like sex and religion like it was a normal occurence in children's cartoons.

  • It would be cool if they did another B.B movie...take it 10 years from this episode where Wayne is on his death bed and Matt (Terry's brother) wants to be trained to help Terry.

  • @Ben82077 It's truly possible DC Animated can do this

  • @AIRTUBEY Yeah they could. I honestly didn't like the "Epilogue" Episode on JLU...it was an episode that was just there...it has no back-story to the other episodes. I figure keep going as before, 10 years later..Wayne dies, leaving Terry with everything, fortune, Wayne Enterprises etc. Terry's mom is dead. Dana is kiled in the movie, which sends terry on a killing spree...Max is the new Oracle and Matt is in training but has to stop Terry for all the killing...Some type of story like that.

  • @Ben82077

    No they can't.

    Batman DOES NOT KILL,not ever.

    It's that simple.

So having Terry go and try to kill someone would violate the very principals of being Batman, and what it means. Its a boundary Bruce would never cross and Terry knows that as well. So out of respect for the original Batman, he wouldn't even think of killing.

  • @snake2006 But the whole story would be, what would happen if Batman (Terry) took a life...My idea of the story would be his mom was killed, his wife dies during the story/movie (Dana) at some point he will be pushed into the abyss...I think deep down a lot of the fans and the audience's would want to see what would happen if he were to take life. It would make a good story. Matt would be in training but would have to bring him back to his basic principles. It would be a dark story to tell.

  • Andrea!

  • She just called him intellectually challeged.... lol

  • for someone with a secret identity, bruce is careless for spraying his blood (hence DNA) all over the place. Well I guess he kind of doesn't have a choice sometimes but going to the paramedics? C'mon...

  • So his little brother is also a copy of batman?

  • BEST speech ever : 3:00 to 3:26

  • @Armengoldragon Is that from the bible?

  • @Armengoldragon Agreed, I actually had to rewind it.

  • @Armengoldragon You don't see great speeches like that in the Cartoon Network shit of today like Adventure Time.

  • Andrea beamount from mask of the phantasam

  • Comment removed

  • @Unsolved2222

    yup

  • @Unsolved2222 Andrea beamount

  • Who was the assassin?

  • @wiersandlines Babara Gordon.

  • @Deception975 Actually it was Andrea Beamount.

  • @opiumthoughts The character looked very similar to Babara, sorry.

  • @Deception975 Ya its cool.

  • @Deception975 How do you know it wasn't her?

  • @101Kamehameha Andrea actually was The Phantasm, the character sneaking up behind young Terry.

It just never occurred that it was her and not Babara. I could see Babara attempting to make a new Batman more so than Andrea.

  • @Deception975

Barb would never try to create another Batman. Andrea knows the pain of loss that Bruce feels. Her whole life was ruined by the Joker and other gang lords by killing her father, causing her to break up with Bruce.

Just like Bruce never got over the death of his parents.

  • but... that's what she said...

  • Comment removed

  • "Not promotely what I meant!" lol

  • This episode made me so mad. I hated how they made Terry Bruce's son. Like someone else said, it was cool having a completely different person become Batman and see how they dealt with the role. Basically all that stuff that Batman Beyond established through the series, Justice League destroyed with a little over four minutes. -__-

  • I thought it was so dumb that he was a clone. He just should've been a different guy...

  • NOT REMOTELY WHAT SHE MEANT!

  • What episode is this???

  • @maruromuald16 Epilogue, from Justice League Unlimited.

  • Also, to add, DC also did the whole greek thing (portrayed in a better way than this was in "Wonder Woman" '09. So don't get TOO excited.

  • I'm a atheist, and I'm okay with the reference. Note, its on a character that tried to kill a innocent couple. Not exactly positive for the religion. -shrugs-

  • Wow...Bible reference do that now-a-days and parents call and bitch about it...fucking pussy ass people..

  • @TheMRBINKER Complain about lack of Biblical references, curse out those who oppose them. Yeah, that fits.

  • @DarkEmergence haha yeah it came off like that but i just think people take things to serious, idk i just think cartoons have been so censored from what they used to be and it makes me a little angry

  • @DarkEmergence I think the person was just expressing surprise not cursing..."curse" words are subject to culture anyways, you can use a "non-curse" word to curse other people too...On topic this one of my favorite scenes from JLU

  • Wouldnt pull the trigger 2:20???

Hahaha... she was about to slaughter them with a century knife :DDDDD

  • @VENOMs7000

    it's an expretion

  • @FavioRiveros Thank you captain OBVIOUS.. dint you sense the humor in my observation. :P

  • @VENOMs7000 Probably not, sarcasm and humor are hard to portray in text. :)

  • @VENOMs7000 Just a figure of speech but I get what you're getting at XD

  • Don't you just love how they have all these Iconic heroes and they have to pick Batman's Future to end it :)

  • OMG the Mask of the Phantasm

  • 0:53 Geez, how'd they get away with that line?

  • the assasin is in the phatasms costume from Batman: Mask of the Phantasm

  • Honestly, batman would not leave his DNA all over Gotham....

  • @Anarulesmanga lol I know right

  • @Anarulesmanga after every beating he would clean his blood on the floor after every battle..

  • @Anarulesmanga i thought that scene was pretty weird too. batman sitting in the back of an Ambulance. he would have called in the batwing or the batmobile and gone back to the cave before he let anyone working for the city touch him

  • Genetic Engineering...Soon we'll be able to create a Batman.

  • this stupid old bitch wanted to kill terry's parents in order for him to become just like batman.....if i was terry i'd throw her out the window

  • Phantasm and Grey Ghost! Two awesome characters in Batman: The Animated Series!

  • he is bruce waynes son

  • damn after all that batman still didn't get any

  • LMAO at 0:54 to 1:04 THumbs up if u get it lol

  • @vince15mohammad OMG I can't believe I missed that when I was watching the actual episodes. This series manages to slip a lot of these things in!

  • @vince15mohammad i don't get it :S

  • @vince15mohammad

    ...Sex?

  • @vince15mohammad aww thats wrong .

  • @vince15mohammad Waller: For some reason we found a lot of "DNA" at Selina Kyle's place.

  • @Ben82077 lol

  • Did Waller even have a right to do what she did to the McGinnis family and Bruce?

  • @TenorZero of course not. not only was it illegal, but pretty immoral. She was even going to KILL Terry's parent's to complete the cycle. Only due to Phantasm's refusal to "pull the trigger" did she realize she was right, it was wrong and stood against what Bruce stood for.

Aaaaand yet, destiny had it's way and it all happened one way or another. he still lost his Father, and he Still became batman.

  • @TenorZero well she does work for the goverment so i guess so

  • Wha-wha-wha-....The Phantasm? Andrea? WOAH!!! I didn't recognize her the first time I saw this!

  • Wow this was a great scene.

  • 1:46

Terry was a fan of the Grey Ghost too!

  • Well im confused is he or is he not his son? Makes more since if he was a clone

  • I don't like batman Byond cause makes me think of dead brice Wayne

  • Terry s dad had Bat Balls :D, so the little brother of terry have bruce DNA too right?

  • Sucks for Terrys Dad thinking that Terry was his "biological" son.

  • I WANT BATMAN BEYOND TO BE CONTINUED AND I WILL BE SO ANGRY IF DC DOESN'T MAKE A NEW BATMAN BEYOND VIDEO GAME

  • How many of you geeked out when you say the Grey Ghost reference?

And...how many of you geeked and spazzed out when you saw Phantasm?

  • Does this mean Terry's little brother also has Wayne DNA?

  • @non496 see that's what I always thought but I heard or read somewhere that the official line was that the nano injection only lasted long enough to effect Terry which seemed kinda odd to me since they planned on killing his parents anyway. So they have Batman III in the waiting. :)

  • @LibraGamesUnlimited Humm intresting. I know when the show was on there was specualtion that his little brother would become the new Robin but the producers or writers or someone said there were no such plans. Of course who knows what happend after the end of the series? :)
