I saw these guys in 1996 on their Throwing Copper tour. They did this song during their acoustic set, sitting on couches they put there to make it look like some old living room. It was awesome. Such a great year. For me, this song represents the freedom I had back then to do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted and could just do shit for myself and not feel selfish doing it. I went to so many great concerts that year and 97. Goddamn I miss those times.
I was searching around for songs I like and typed in this one, and lo and behold, I see others like it as well. Glad I'm not the only one. Thanks for posting!
The Bride of Messiah rode a horse called truth into my head and changed everything. Now Her children are sharing truth everywhere and I don't care cause there is nothing wrong with it. DDT
i cant believe they broke up!!!! i never had the chance to see them... this is the worst day !!! they have been together for soo long.. why now ????come on live your music is soo amazing you cant quit now!!!
@saomylife22 only what "allegedly" happened originally they were going on a 2 year hiatus creative differences, the band apparently found secret contracts the singer signed etc, but Ed ( the singer) denies this so who knows, that was my understanding of it i could be wrong
well technically the band and singer have both formed new bands, band excluding singer are called the gracious few (with candlebox singer) and they are quite rocky, search up a song called appetite
I don't buy that at all. Songs in the 60s and 70s didn't become hits because people didn't have anything else from which to choose; songs became hits if they were worthy of being hits. These days, anything can be a hit, even if it sucks.
@gdawgnumberone you kiddin' ? the 60's had some awesome music, not just stones.
Deep Purple, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, The Temptations, Four Tops, Jimmi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane... hell, even Blue Oyster Cult started in the 60's..
this could have been a hit and a crossover hit in country, a friend of mines has a country band and they play this and get great reaction. Hardly anyone knows this was from one of the biggest alternative rock bands of the 90's lol
I never understood why this song was never a radio hit. This song is a major hit and a classic; yet, unfortunately, neither became true. Why? This song is melodically and instrumentally beautiful, and it is clearly a rock classic. It should have been, that is. Someone the corporate world missed this one.
it didn't become a classic because it didn't have angst or sex appeal. it always had more of a country-western sound to it, which wouldn't gel so much with a lot of fans of the bands.
sad to say, sex and/or anger are what sells (i'm amazed lady gaga has a record contract and hasn't been put to death for crimes against humanity, though.)
I can't agree with that statement because the song is too melodic to be country and even the Rolling Stones had a hit that had a slight country-western sound. I think it didn't become a hit because people just have bad taste in music these days.
well, there's a lot of ballads in country music. this has that feel, what with the bass rhythm and the steel guitar especially.
i know "wild horses" by the stones. i don't think it sounds all that similar to "horse," but that's splitting hairs. in the 60's and 70's, music was a lot more introspective because the audience was a lot more introspective. hate to agree with you there, but i do all the same.
Look up the song "Wild Horses" by the Rolling Stones. It sounds very similar to "Horse" by Live, and "Wild Horses" was a huge hit for the Rolling Stones. It is because in the 60s and 70s, people understood great music. That is not true today.
Yes, they played this song in concert during the Throwing Copper tour. They set up a living room type set and sat on the sofa and played it. Beautiful!
I don't have anything to say, but I had to post a comment because I rated the video, and up to this point it has the same number of comments as rates.
I had this on cd for months until I let it play long enough to hear it. I actually found out about it by accident, one of my dormmates had it on tape and there was no waiting...it just came up immediately. I felt so dumb, didn't even know about it! Awesome song!
i know what you mean my dad bought me this when it first came out and when i heard this song i kept looking for it in the lyric sheet but couldn't find it. it wasn't until i bought the cd and windows media showed that track 14 was untitle it is awesome
for me this song is about getting older in life with your family. and i dont care.
