I am 21 years old, these songs you've uploaded have me falling in love with them. I mean there are plenty of good artistes of our generation as well. but these songs are just amazing. specially when you're away from the country like me, makes me feel more closer to home. (: Awesome Job. Love the songs. cheers from US!
Thanks, one of my favorite songs............By the way, have you got Maha re yame, Me el hene.........I like this song very much, but never managed to get a recording. Also I do not know who the singer was.....................Please do include it if you happen to have a recording of it.
Thanks........I have been trying to find out for the last two years.......No luck.............The next line of the song is " Thaniyama seepada kiyanu asa ".....It is a duet (if that is of any help ) Thanks again
What more can I say? Every body who listened to the songs seems to be delighted and so am I. Thanks very much...........specially for taking the trouble to get most of Sunil Santha's songs together..............Thanks again
Sorry for the delay Upali. Just saw the comment, and thanks for the encouragement. I have uploaded Sydney's Pale Wasana Ranmali, as per your request. Hope you've seen it.
Its always nice to listen to great Sunil Shantha. I always consider him to be the unmatched musical Ambassador of Sri Lanka even ehead of Great WD Ameradeva. This is uniquely Sri Lankan. I can listen to these songs and really feel proud being a Sri Lankan. I can listen to these songs and embrace my culture and its heritage so dearly. Can never ever think ill of Sri Lanka. Can you imagin a song generating that much power into someone's mind. Also thank u for the wonderful intro provided
You are spot on. Sunil Santha was the first to introduce our own style of Sinhala music with his Olu Pipeela, at a time when all others were following Indian 'Ragadhari' music. Amaradeva was Sunil Santha's violinist. It was Sunil who brought Amaradeva to the fore, but never got credit or never gets mentioned. All Sinhala artists today are indebted to Sunil Santha, the god father of Sinhala music.
Thank you a million times for your painstaking effort to post songs like these along with a tinge of history....with the present degradation and downfall in the quality of Sri Lankan music, atleast we can make our younger generation appreciate these songs and who singers like Sunil Shantha were by just clicking onto youtube, thanks to people like you. You have many well wishers in your cause!
Thank you very much for the lovely comment!! You are absolutly right. We have a great music tradition and style. In order to show our gratitude to the artists who has given us so much joy, the least we can do is to pass their music on to the younger generation. I am so glad that you too are on the same page !!
One of the great golden classics for ever. Some times I wonder and its a great pleasure to meet people like You ,Palitha Dr, Tharupaba ,Aruna etc....Words cannot describe the value of it...
What can I say for you..Thanks a lot for these songs...I can remember another song like this ..
Thank you very much for the lovely comment. You made my day!! It really is great to see that there are other people with similar interest, and Youtube is a great way to bring everyone together from different corners of the world !!
I do have Mewan Pitisare somewhere, recorded myself onto a casetted from the LP 'Sunil Gee' back in the 80s, borrowed from the Maestro himself !! Will upload when I find it.
Thanks Vidhura. Yes, for some reason this song has that effect. I think it was written for his wife Leela who was a teacher !! I had the priviledge of associating his whole family as a family friend !!

Thank you goonewj for giving us Sunil Santha's songs.
By the way, ereshcoffee, you probably meant Sunil's song about a mother-bird's plea to children not to break her nest. It begins,
' Kema soyannata lay ketiyanhata, eatha vane sariyaa... Kema soyagena aami kavannata ko daruvan dedenaa'
sung by Leelawathie and Sunil.
