Living in Idaho i know what real racist are. Who is accusing him of being a racist? And what comment I do not see it here. My god people should listen to the stuff out here.
that wasnt raciest but anyway their is a difference between sports athletes because being a war hero needs courage and is life threatening and tiger woods was just born with a talent hes still a great role model but War heros have been through a lot more
Hmmm? I don't know... I read about this and then "Youtubed" it... I don't really think that was racist and I'm black and very sensitive about racism... I think the comparison there was sports athlete vs. a "war hero"... but I could see how someone could think he was just interchanging a black for a black... in other saying we all look alike... but somehow I don't think that's what he was doing...
If anything, it's the people decrying his statement that are doing as you said, "interchanging a black for a black" or that is at least their first reaction, which would prove what's really on their minds
That's not even racist! I'm tired of all these people pulling the race card and feeling sorry for themselves. If you think it's racist it's because you make it that way. as you can tell from "dwj91"'s comment, HE is the simple minded one, singling out the white race. dwj91, if there is anything on this page that is racist, it is your comment about white people. Bellavia is a hero and more of a man than anyone on this page. Read his book, maybe you'll learn something.
I don't know whether I should laugh or cry that someone can fight in the Battle of Fallujah (in a platoon composed of African Americans, Caucasians, Hispanics, and Filipino Americans) and be nominated for the Medal of Honor, and yet Keith Olberman would have us remember him as the "Tiger Woods comment guy".
SSG Bellavia is a true American hero. While guys like Obama "thought about serving", Bellavia and thousands like him put on the uniform and served in harms way.
Of course this is racist. Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles can see that. What else is new? America should expect this from MOST but not all Republicans/Conservatives.
This is why there will NEVER BE an overwhelming majority of BLACK CONSERVATIVES OR BLACK REPUBLICANS. We think that Republicans and Conservatives are a bunch of racist hypocrites that just like to hear themselves talk. They claim to know Jesus with their mouths, but their actions say otherwise.
Your choices of Stevie and Ray is actually racist since you picked them because they are black. Bellavia chose Tiger because he is an athlete. Now go away you racist.
Actually stupid in case you hadn't picked up on it I'M BLACK!!!!! Also I picked Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles beause they are both BLIND!!!!! Meaning even two blind people can see that this guy is a racist. He chose Tiger because he's biracial and so is Obama. That's the closest example he could get and use to try to belittle the man. We'll see if Bellavia gets elected to the seat he's running for.
It hurts me to indulge you, but Eddie Murphy informed me they were both blind, but why them and not Helen Keller. That's the absurdity of the whole thing. Race should have been irrelevant, it was in the eyes of the man who used it.
You're not very bright are you? It hurt you to indulge me. Are you serious? (LOL)!!!!!!!!!!!! I love when white people try to say something is not racism when it CLEARLY is. And only people with small minds resort to racist remarks like the Bellavia did because his mind doesn't know aht else to say. Must be a pitiful thing to be that slow.

did you not listen to that speech, he is talking about the quality of a role model. the issue of skin color is moot. read bellavia's book. he fights next to guys of other races, and has nothing bad to say about them. listen to the speech again, and you will find that it would have meant the sme thing if he said " you can have your Larry Bird"
Only because federal holidays cost money and he said he was wrong. It was also a Republican President that made it a holiday. You seem to be the not so bright one
Obama was compared to tiger woods not because he is the most recognizable athtlete, that is just a coincidence, and that fact is easy to use as an excuse to cover up racial undertones, which racist people are often good at doing. Biggots such as Bellavia hate the buzz around Tiger as they hate the buzz around Obama. Mr. Bellavia was just letting his white sheet, I mean, slip show.
Did you not hear what he said right before the Tiger Woods comment? He's not making a comparison to between Woods and Obama, he's making a comparison in role models of an athelte vs a war vet. And if you don't think he would hold up any of the African Americans from his platoon above any white sports star you are sadly mistaken.
curt, Nice try but if the nuances of this bigoted illiterate stuttering stumbling Hack have flown over your head, it says far more about you than you would have wished I'm sure.
the irony is, tiger woods also had to endure alot of racism and break down racial barriers along the path to fame. Many golf courses would not let him play because he wasn't white.
Its not even spin its lying. If i was Tiger Woods I would be dissapointed and pissed becuase the whole time I thought I was the most reconizable athlete on the planet, and arguably the best Golfer of all time....To the liberals I was really just another black guy. "associate a man not the color of his skin..." seems to be something the left just cant understand.
You are absolutely right Douche. Tiger's only claim to fame is his blackness, he is certainly not famous and revered for his amazing golf skills. Nice use of the one drop rule to categorize him as black you asshat.
Once again, your lack of intelligence is showing. They are in completely different vocations/professions, thereby are not comparable. Enlarge your vocabulary. Name calling implies that you either don't know better or you have low self-esteem.
You talk about my intelligence? Of course they are in differennt professions you asshat, that is the heart of an analogy. If he was elevating one athlete or politician over another then possibly race could be an issue. But he was comparing athletes to war heroes. Now please STFU and quit embarrassing yourself.
Accused of bigotry? Listen to his words. This moron may have carried a gun in Iraq, he may be a brave solder, that sure as hell doesn't make him anyone I want to associate with or vote for (he's running for office in New York). He's a bigot - or willing to use racist statements in politics. Why mention Tiger Woods?
Because Tiger Woods is the most famous iconic athlete in history and while he can rightly be held up as a good person and someone to respect, he is not a hero. I think Tiger would state the same thing and point to his Father's friend from Vietnam who he was named after as a hero.
Well said buddy. I was listening to liberal radio (for purposes of debate) and they were all over David for the comment, and they all thought the same thing: "Tiger is black, so they hate him." One dude tried to explain it, but they cut him off when he started pointing out that corrput black Democratic Rep is being protected by the Black Caucus.
SSG bell is not a racist shit I ought to know I was one of his medics in kosovo and iraq and as a blackman that wasnt a racist remark

Sen. Robert Byrd. Was a member of the KKK and fillibustered the 1964 civil rights act. Democrat.
George Wallace. Segregationist Governor of Alabama. Democrat.

The only thing Tiger Woods had to do with this is because he is Black (same as Obama). Racism, again unchecked by McCain.
