  • interracial families are the BEST. without them, i wouldn't be here (:

  • This is IMO really stupid. Too much is just as bad as not enough. 100% and 0% is just as horrible.

  • This is nice.

  • wow!!!!

  • Wow!! A Great Film... Loved It!! Thanks For Sharing It. ~Andree'

  • Thats my dad and grandpa!

  • i mentioned how my nationality is american by law. as far as ethnicity goes, i am hispanic. but honestly, hispanic and american says nothing to me. neither are rooted in fact. so first and foremost, i am a human. i personally dont feel the need to go beyond, because honestly, everything after that is just opinion. ;) i wish people would stop giving so much importance to a classification system. if it's not fact, you don't have to believe it

  • i know that each person has an idea of what they find attractive but in reality it never works out that way. we meet people who we fall in love with and not because of their physical. so really to say you only date a certain race abnegates the reality and only makes you seem ignorant and racist.

  • i wonder if the japanese people in this documentary consciously look to marry a non-japanese or if its just coincidental. i hear of certain races (whatever that is--since there is no such thing as race scientifically except for human. the inventions of any other races are only in our minds) who will only date outside their race. that is lame.

  • i was raised in the states. in nationality, i am american. no ifs, ands, or buts. i don't care about the next ignorant person who comes along who says otherwise because the law says i am. personally, i think if you live here, youre american, legally or not, but i digress.

  • looks really good, the plot and the cinematography. the ending was really beautiful, the message and once again, the pictures. will definitely look into it. mixture, any human really, is beautiful. i can identify with this because i'm hispanic. hispanics are a mixture of, well, anything really, but mainly native american and european, and in some countries, african, too.

  • the first guy looks like my grandpa. i almost cried.

  • This is almost the exact same as my family, only instead of Japanese we have Chinese! This is great.

  • One Big Hapa Family is screening At Columbia University tomorrow!

  • Ah. My lecturer said intermarriage often cause imbreeding depression. No good actually. :(

  • @xshirayuki actually breeding outside a "breed" often produces the outbreeding effect where a hybrid has better health the original two "breeds." But as humans, we aren't as genetically far apart as dog or cat breeds. so, no matter what there is the inbreeding depression. about 1% of the human genome is individual, so we're all 99% similar. i think you might want to think about switching to a population genetics class cuz ur lecturor might be racist.

  • @xshirayuki in biology, the more diversity the better. does this advocate intermarriage? no. it just means don't marry your brother or sister or first cousin. humans are so mixed enough as it is, there is no such thing as purity in anyone's blood. humans travel, and they have sex.

  • @xshirayuki one person may look white but it is impossible for every single ancestor to have been white. in some areas more than others, maybe there has been less mixing (recently anyway). i think the most pure races (race is an invention btw. science does not recognize any race beyond human) are asians and africans as is evidenced by the same features there is within their people. but whites are diverse and less pure.

  • Aww. I wanna see this so badly. As a halfer, this makes me so happy. :)

  • @guiltytangent

    multiculturism is good

    we're creating human genuinety

  • this looks wicked

  • It all makes up an interesting Recipe for an extraordinary venture into human consciousness at a most pivotal time in the North American Universe...I was going to write a quip about tomato soup modified by my amazingly diverse spice assortment which, by forturnate accident has unconsciously transformed my palate which is, by all estimation the pathway to the Soul. 96 characters remaining

  • Watched this in class...amazing!

  • Wow i cant wait looks awesome!

  • Looks great Jeff. When can we see it in Winnipeg?

  • @broccolocreative Hey John! Seeing as how the National Association of Japanese Canadians is based in Winnipeg...it makes sense to screen there soon! I also submitted to the Winnipeg Freeze Frame Int. Film Festival for Kids of all Ages...so hopefully, they'll accept the film! Talk soon my friend!

  • We saw this movie in Calgary with my Dad. Awesome work! It will be so nice for the next generation of Hapa's to have an identity and hopefully less of the racism that the older generations of Hapa felt because of great works like this.

  • Awesomeness.

  • Marriage between the races is a new thing? lol

  • were u at tiff?? i was there everyday... i didn;t see any of ur stuff.
