@TheOberon8 who could play it better than hassid? this is still beautiul. he plays with the soul of a poet. excellent of you to point out hassid. what a sorrowful story that is
Abram Shtern is a forgotten master of the violin. His is truly one of the greats. Listen to his older recordings from the 50s to the 70s. His playing is from a more romantic age.
I absolutely love the expression this man puts into his playing. I can really feel his interpretation and what he is doing musically with this haunting melody. Although, technically, he is obviously not as supreme as some of these 18year old prodigies you see, his musicality is truly inspiring. :)
Wow I wasn't watching the video when he began playing and I could have sworn that when he played on the G string it was a cello! I love the sound of his violin...it's so rich and his playing is very passionate!
beautiful

Going to a live classical concert elicits the irrepressible desire to cough. A musical phenomenon.
Anyway, beautiful performance!

I would let my lungs fill with blood before I would cough during an Abram Shtern performance.

Amazing, but Hassid plays it better.

You would be mistaken. The somewhat poor quality of the video may lead you to believe that but trust me -- it isn't.

I think that this piece should be totally reserved for Josef Hassid. No one could play it like him.

Yeah, he is technically better than some of those 18 year old prodigies....
In plus, this piece isn't exactly one to show or prove amazing technical abilities.
