Dick Cheney is hated in America because he lied about Sadam Hussein having weapons of mass destruction which led to an oil war in which thousands of U.S. soldiers and innocent Iraqi civilians were killed. The only people who like Bush-Cheney are people who do not care about middle-eastern people and do not have a problem with killing for oil. That is the short story of it but there is waaaaaaay more.
We haven't lost "Thousands" of American soldiers, although I have lost numerous friends. This maybe a misunderstood war, but it was a war that needed to be fought sooner or later. We all may hate Cheney for the lies that he told, he may be a power hungry whore, but history will show that this war was necessary. Nations do not go to war on whimsical ideas or reasons. It is not my job to question wars; but to study them, & to fight in them.

People who blame Jay forget that his show premiered two months AFTER Conan's premiere, so Conan HAD the regular NBC 10:00 line-up for 2 solid months when he started. Conan lost the ratings all by himself, so stop blaming Jay!
When Leno got the show from Carson, he had 17-18 months to establish a new base. NBC was too dependent on Conan to bring his younger audience over from Late Night. Conan stood by what he believed in by not moving the Tonight Show to 12:05 because it's been a sixty year franchise that has been only at 11:35. Read Conan's statement

Since Dave went to CBS he's been doin great. He'll end up retiring the longest talk show since the Tonight Show someday and take his place as an icon behind Johnny anyway. Noone else has lasted. It's always been Johnny and Dave on late night. The main two guys. Dave still goin' strong. So even tho Dave didn't get the Tonight Show it worked out better for him at CBS and he'll still be considered a late night talk show icon. Noone else compares to him or Johnny as far as longevity. CBS was smart.
Why didn't NBC just move the News back a half hour, drop Leno in a 11pm spot, then Conan on at 11:30 as usual, then Fallon as usual. The Late shows cover the news highlights anyways. Oh wait its NBC.

Jay became a "superstar" by being a consummate suck-up and slimeball. NBC gave him the Tonight Show because Dave always gave them headaches, while Jay was an obedient little bitch. Jay's time at the Tonight Show was also a flop for the first few YEARS, so saying that "Conan's is too" is BS.
Lastly, Jay was #1 because most old people are habitual and like easy, non-threatening humor, and that's what he provides: the same, easy "jokes" that you see coming a mile away, night after night.

It's not a matter of who's "better" it's a matter of poor decisions. People like Jay Leno, that's fine, I can understand that. But people like Conan quite a lot, too - his show was given a poor entry (no one watched local NBC-affiliated news and thus there was no segway into the Tonight Show). Conan's show didn't go under because of poor jokes, it went under because NBC can't program late night anymore.

An ultimatum implies a challenge...Conan didn't just yell at NBC to better give him the Tonight Show or else...they BOTH agreed on in in a CONTRACT. Jay Leno isn't funny period, and ever since Conan came to the tonight show, he's been much funnier than Jay, but he's not himself. His jokes are too PC, and I know he hates having to interview homos like Spencer Pratt and other "reality" "stars". Give Jay the show back, let him run it into the ground, at least they'll get the 60-80 demographic back. Conan'll do fine wherever he goes. The guy's actually witty and funny unlike Jay.

Jay became a "superstar" by being a consummate suck-up and slimeball. NBC gave him the Tonight Show because Dave always gave them headaches, while Jay was an obedient little bitch. Jay's time at the Tonight Show was also a flop for the first few YEARS, so saying that "Conan's is too" is BS.
Lastly, Jay was #1 because most old people are habitual and like easy, non-threatening humor, and that's what he provides: the same, easy "jokes" that you see coming a mile away, night after night.

It's not a matter of who's "better" it's a matter of poor decisions. People like Jay Leno, that's fine, I can understand that. But people like Conan quite a lot, too - his show was given a poor entry (no one watched local NBC-affiliated news and thus there was no segway into the Tonight Show). Conan's show didn't go under because of poor jokes, it went under because NBC can't program late night anymore.

I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to host the Tonight Show and it was in the contract for Conan to be able to host it 2009. It's not like Conan suddenly stole the show out of lust and greed, they planned this out with the NBC executives ever since at least 6 years ago...

An ultimatum implies a challenge...Conan didn't just yell at NBC to better give him the Tonight Show or else...they BOTH agreed on in in a CONTRACT. You need to understand this...think about it, if it was just an ultimatum then NBC doesn't even need to pay Conan to leave the Tonight Show, but since it is in Conan's contract to host the Tonight Show they have to pay him a substantial amount to force him out. And everyone but you I guess, knows Carson wanted Letterman, not Leno.

Of course he had great ratings! Leno hosted for 18+ years and beat everyone,including Dave.Conan's ratings were so good a show cancelled 3 years prior on rerun,got much higher ratings than he did! So he needs to pick a time when good times and the A team are on rerun,may be he'll beat those.But if up against any of the CSI's,Seinfeld ,medium,ghost wisperer on reruns etc... he is in BIIIG trouble.Great ratings Conan! 40% wow!Leno kept a steady 60%

I guess you have a die hard fan commitment to Leno which I don't think it's wrong. But you need to start looking at reality and why the ratings happened with Conan and Leno...First off the Tonight Show is the king of talk shows so of course Leno would have huge ratings following Carson. Conan got less when he hosted because of the poor news shows AND Leno's 10pm show preceding his. But it looks like you can only believe Leno is right no matter what, so it's okay, keep hugging your Leno doll.

giggilamour, it is a widely known fact that Leno is a Libertarian. Conan is a Green Party supporter, which is about as liberal as you can get.
More importantly, Conan is MUCH funnier than Leno. He understands physical comedy very well and makes the most out of his unusual facial and body characteristics; Leno is very stiff and just tells jokes.
Also, Conan's written for The Simpsons and SNL--two of the longest-running and argueably funniest comedy venues on tv. Nuff said. Go Coco!
