Tim has a baritone guitar, dont know about a 7 string, the guy is a pro guitar player so it would be no surprise if he did. Big 311 fan, this is one of my favorites here, play this for someone you know, at the right time, cough..., they will love it.
i don't know much about about tim's guitar collection, but I don't think there's much of a necessity for a 7 string. I think the misconception comes from the fact that tim plays a lot of power chords starting on the 5th since p-nut can handle the low notes with his 5 string. I think rivers cuomo does this too, just listen to buddy holly
