  • BBD....the band when you mention there name ...nobody knows them .... we you play there music everyone loves them ...how have they stayed so unpopular

  • i recently went to see Bill live in London and it was a fantastic event. The DVD is now available. A must for all Bill fans.

  • Bill Nelson is so soooo very much under rated. he is a virtuoso of the 6string and one of the world's best. "Live In The Air Age" is a classic

  • This video should have at least 100 times the views that it has. Bill Nelson should NOT be a secret!

    Spread the Gospel of BILL.

  • Bill often talked about his upbringing on 50s music and Duane Eddy. This just about explains everything

  • Cooooooooooooooooool guitar work ;)

  • Most under rated band in the universe, Bill Nelson my hero.

  • I have officially hit my 50th view of this video. The final solo BURNS! I love the sustain and distortion he gets with his amp and guitar..........

  • @Transterra55 never found another solo like it. Real guitar playing without the masks

  • wow.. we play this song!!! wish we played it as these boys!!!! come on bill get back on the road we want to see you live (in the age air?) mick in cold hartlepool.

  • be-litzkreig bop deluxe. lol

  • Bill Nelson has always rocked.....

  • are those stock pickups on that 2000?

  • @timj41 Yep, two screws at the top and one at the bottom, that's stock Yamaha SG pickups. Best production guitar of the 70s/80's, still a great guitar.

  • Such a terribly underrated artist and band.

  • Maybe not a quality, but still a great video. Bill Nelson is just sublime, he has covered just about guitar genre whilst pushing into new areas as well. He always seems to get such great tone into the bargain. I suppose genius is an appropriate description for him. Wonderful

  • I was in the audience!. Yes I feel old!

  • Be-Bops Drummer Simon Fox was always a pleasure to watch. Everytime I saw them live he was always impeccably dressed and played to perfection. Anybody any ideas as to what he is up to these days?

  • Wow, I didn't know this even existed. This was the song that I covered on the "Our Secret Studios" fan tribute. My god, that was long ago.

  • even the drummin is tight.....what a great tune :)

  • Be Bop Deluxe is one of my all time favorite bands. To this day I regret never getting to see them perform live. Bill Nelson is an incredible guitarist who who to this day has never received the respect he deserves.

  • I recently bought a mint 1979 Yamaha SG2000. Cost me a pretty penny but worth every cent. Awesome, beautiful guitar. Very high end. Cherry sunburst. Bill Nelson knew how great these guitars were. Bill is nothing less than a truly gifted guitarist. Too bad most people have never heard of him. Bill Nelson, the most unknown Guitar God.

  • @TIMOTHYSAARINEN I couldn't agree more, Timothy. Nelson, a brilliant player, should be way up at the top of great guitarists' lists.

  • @TIMOTHYSAARINEN wow you are so right. I hope others discover Bill. I'm 50 and have always "heard of" BBD but only recently have taken another listen. My new fave old/new band!

  • Bill burns it up on the mighty Yamaha SG 2000 !

  • tight band...revisiting 30 years ago today

  • The first time I heard this song was on John Peel's late night radio show in 1978. Loved them then - bought Drastic Plastic - still have it!! Love the version here.....Bill is a genious....thank you BN

  • I've got Sister Seagull under my nails forever....never get tired of playing it....the "Air Age" version of course.

  • >> the "Air Age" version of course.

    LOL .. I hear ya

  • The genius that was be Bop deluxe encapsulated in about 4 minutes of precious film and sound a wonderful sharing of a wonderful talent

    (Tony Roberts) warrington cheshire

  • Brilliant solo.

  • man bill is a god on guitar if anyone has crying to the sky or adventure in a yorshire landscape pls let me know thank you

  • Bill Nelson music is never, never boring, the details in his music is fantastic, I play Futurama is the best guitar record ever......EMI are bad guys the dont pay bill the royalties....!

  • Bill Nelson is an incredible genius...this man deserved so much more accolades than he received. So Sad...

  • Although my musical tastes have moved towards Hardcore metal these days, I still love listening to the 'SG' on this track. BN sure knows how to make a guitar talk. 30 years on this track is still outrageously good.

  • Hi

    I am

a huge fan of Bill and Be Bop Deluxe too!! They used to rehearse in the local church hall in my village in yorkshire !!

    Jih

  • .....f/n hell, Bill helped me finish high school in 1974 with Third Floor Heaven & Fair Exchange.....this is an awesome tune too.....thanx for this one then.....

  • Still have the album, scratched to shit, but like having a piece of history. Thanks for the video!!

  • Yepp, its true Bills guitar is so under ratetd. FUTURAMA AND WHIMSY PUTS ALL THINGS TOGETHER.....HE RULES!!!!!!!

  • GREAT video !!!

    Bill Nelson RULES!!

  • You have said it all!!

  • Bill Nelson is undoubtedly one of the most under rated guitarists of all time. Saw Be-Bop Deluxe live on 3 occasions (Including the original Axe Victim line up). The music and lyrics remain ageless to me.

  • billy is a awsome guitar player and they all rock.

  • jimi hendrix, joe satriani, jimi page, eric clapton, david gilmour. These different styles of legendary guitar gods are pop folklore.Bill Nelson was as unique and great as any of these guys, only problem was that society never appreciated Nelsons genius. The GREEK!

  • Nelson was amazing. Thank you very much!

  • For those who thought Bill's soul was forged only into his Gibson 335, the Man rocks with any six-string harp at his fingertips.

  • Too right - axe fans will no doubt (!) love to know this a Yamaha SG2000 - kinda souped-up SG-type affair (but with groovy split coils on the 'buckers - my old Sydney flatmate rocked one of these - man, she was great!!) Pedants (i.e. me) will also appreciate the clarification that Bill's No. 1 was actually a Gibson 345 - a 3335 but with flashy fittings and the varitone control. Lecture over. Love on all y'all.

  • And of course people after the true facts will realise that the above should say '335' as Mudge says, not '3335'. I promise not to post ever again!

  • I taped this concert off the radio at the time - 1978, I recall- bad reception, inferior cassette stock and some weird sort of shipping signal all over it. Still wore it out though. Some of this is included in the excellent Be Bop compilation 'Radioland-BBC Radio One Live In Concert' which was released many years later - and which I think is still available. Worth every penny. This tune is great - a total steal, of course, but who cares and anyway the solo is a cracker!

  • I remember this concert. The boys were supported by Jenny Darren if I recall. Fantastic Be Bop set list.
