@xjet do you think i could make a pulse jet from threaded steel pipe and fittings? it would probably be too heavy to mount on a plane, but i was thinking of maybe putting it on a go cart. (wooden, normally gravity powered go cart)
Very Cool. I made a pulse jet in my dads shop as a kid. It would be fun to build a more professional version now that I have a fully equipped shop. I would be interested in seeing the spinning lathe in operation as well. Also a part 2 to this video series would be stellar. Thanks -- TMFA
I wouldn't think so because pulse jets are availble already since the late 70's? I cant remember when it was invented. This is not his invention. Back then pulse jets engine were used in u-control. I just got rid of my u-control pulse jet. But I can get it back :).
@robdei1 Copper would not be the best option. It softens with heat and it is also too good a conductor of heat to make an easy-starting/running engine.
@xjet i want to build a pulsejet. i have two questions. one, would i be able to make a simple one out of threaded steel piping just to get the concepts down, and two, my mom does not want me to do it because she is afraid i will blow myself up, even if i have a remote starting button and i stand a looooooooooooooooong way away. can you help me show her otherwise?
Man, i so much wish I was there. you and I will work together to build a one seater Pulse Jet plane and I will test fly it :D can't wait for coming up vids. Pulse jets are getting my interest. Gotta learn a lot from ya
I loved your final statement, which is the point of it all, the bottom line, the answer to life, the universe and everything: flying the snot out of it!
Keep up the great work, you are an inspiration to the rest of us.
Thank you for building this pulsjet for me Bruce. it is very interesting to see how this is done. Now I will look for a plane to mount it on. I will not be surprised if it is a sport 40 from twm. thank you so much. Alf.
@sbglobal You can but you have to be careful about providing plenty of ventilation. I use a ceramic coating on the inside of my engines which reduces the temperature on the outside but you still need plenty of air flowing over them to keep them cool.
Tremendous! I have looked forward to the actual building of your pulse jets and have wondered what tools were used in construction. I can see already building one is not just a simple job without the proper tools. I look forward to seeing the use of them in the construction as the project unfolds. Is a ceramic coating still part of the building?
@xjet holy crap i cant even imagine how a mechanical gyro would be, that is some stone age shit. maybe a rock rubbing on the tail rotor.... i cant picture a mechanical one.
@rolgarcia1 The mechanical gyros had a little electric motor that spun a flywheel and that flywheel was connected to a variable resistor that created the pulses to control the servo. They certainly weren't heading-hold and they did drift a *lot* but they were better than nothing.
Looking forward to the next part/s of this. Been waiting for some time now. :0

hey can you show us how to build a jet engine like a turbine i hear its simple but they waste lots of fuel

@madhazza023 It'll be another 2-3 weeks. I'm just renovating the workshop and moving stuff around to make it much easier to do the videos.

Is it possible to make a pulsejet using regular not-stainless steel? Do I really need a TIG welding machine? I have only a MIG.
AnttiMaeki 8 months ago
@AnttiMaeki You can use a MIG and regular steel but the engine will not be light enough to power an RC plane.
xjet 8 months ago
Could you use a metal such as Copper to make a pulsejet? Or, is Copper too soft to make a pulsejet.

How come it says "2 views" and there's 6 comments? Something screwy with You Tube.
