Lookingforthepast; how are you doing now? My adanoids are blocking my airway, and my uvula is long. Seeing ENT on Tuesday. Shouldn't he check my adanoids before offering surgery? Are you still using cpap after surgery?
I had the operation in 2003 best thing I could have done, it doesn't matter the size of the person (weight) you can be 300lbs or 90 lbs you our born is way, just to much tissue in your throat in some cases, In my case my uvula was the size of a football, my tonsils were huge. There is no doubt after the operation it hurt and will for a few days after. Please I repeat PLEASE use your CPAP it will save your save your life.
@Christopher711 yeah definitely and my breathing is way much better than it was before surgery no stuffy nose and i wake up very rested not feeling tired like before
@foreveran27 30mins ish, i had it done Tuesday eve in a private hospital in the U.K. im 4 days in & its very sore even with the pain killers still i hope worth it in the long term though :)
I love Dr. Chang's last sentence in the naration, "This is the end result after about 3 weeks of healing" as we see an artistic rendering of a well-healed palate. Can we see and hear from the actial patient?
I just had this done ten days ago and no problems so far. I can eat and food does not go up my nose. I know it is a risk factor, but so far, I am pleased. My surgeon is terrific. I had some blood clots come up for a few days and I just spit them out. Once the tissue heals in a few weeks I'll have a better idea of how much this helps my apnea. I hate CPAP and won't wear it, if I can help it.
I had this done. Don't do it. It is a terrible operation and now I can't even wear a CPAP and food goes up your nose when you eat. Now my doctor wants to shorten the base of my tongue. This makes me want to shorten his life as he did mine.
@termides my cousin got his done and said it was good. i just got my tonsillectomy done and i have food going up my nose as well right now. wondering if it will disappear when i fully heal and the clot in my nose is gone.
Thank you very much for this video! I'm studying to be a medical transcriptionist, and this a huge help for my ENT unit. Thanks for helping me care for my doctors and their patients more efficiently!

denverchin44 8 months ago
Why remove the uvula??? please answer my question? I thought you need uvula for sound effects?
braylenlandkey 9 months ago
@braylenlandkey Your vocal cords is what you need to make sounds, but no idea why they remove the uvula. Good question

I believe that the risk of reflux of food into the cavum or nose is huge after this operation.
