  • *Starts a 'slow clap'..* That was the single most incredible compression tutorial I've seen in my days. bravo sir. bravo

  • So as a Bass player, should I be concerned with hitting the strings too hard and making 'spikes' in the signal?

  • @TMRonin85 it really depends, getting peaks and transients is part of the sound, so it can be a good thing and characteristic. But, it is certainly something to consider and keep in mind. Some guys even put a little compression in their foot pedal chain, or during tracking. Subtle, but something to control the peaks a little.

  • Great tutorial... thanks!

  • Very useful tutorial bro.

  • Thank you VERY much man! Please post more videos if you ever feel so inclined.

  • That's a good video, bro.

  • Very nice explanation of bass compression. I also like that you included different styles and the different approaches to compressing them properly, as bass is very different between slap and rock. It would have been nice to see a sidechain on the slap/pick with the highs accentuated, a higher threshold and faster release to tame the peaks, which is one of my favorite methods for keeping slap bass in line.

  • Your a fantastic teacher... i love your voice. Its like velvet toilet paper.
