Cloud was never a clone, nor was Zack. Both of them however had Jenova cells put in them as well as exposure to Mako, that's why Cloud was so messed up when Sephiroth or Jenova was around. They're so connected to sephiroth because Jenova cells make up most of Sephiroth's being.

ff7 has a ton of different versions. crisis core is the prequal to ff7 then it goes dirge of serberus and then advent children.... or at least i think.. all i know is ff7's chronological order is crisis core then ff7 (for ps1)

It's appears during the battles. When it goes to the special little cut scenes. There is a part you see with Zack telling Aerith to wear the pink dress the next time they met. Along there is another part where Zack changed his hair style with Aerith first seeing it. And she can't help but giggle at his 'different look' It happens random so my best guess for you to see it, is keep getting into fights haha
