my son has a 45 degree scoliosis & is going to have the surgery at stanmore orthepaedic!!! how long will it be before he is up & about??? also will he ever be able to go on rollercoaster rides & thrill rides afterwards????
@fixit4ultd Good luck to your son :) I was able to walk within a few days and after I came home I built my trips out up over a few weeks - certainly after 3-4 weeks I felt completely normal again and was able to carry out day to day trips just like usual... My hospital told me that I shouldn't go on rollercoasters or do anything that could jar or impact my back for about a year but after that I was doing all the things that I enjoyed before my surgery - hope this helps - all the best - Pxx
I've had this surgery mine was a 95 degree curve and if I didn't have the surgery soon I could've died because my spine was laying on my lung.(: good luck to anyone having the surgery.
Hey, guess who this is! (Mei) It doesn't really matter now, by just some rebuttal to a certain someone who posted on here (you know who).
So what? They did operate and she has posted this video to help OTHERS and give then reassurance, not for know-it-alls to talk about serious surgery that doesn't concern them! I'm one of her closest friends and I saw how hard it was for her and I know it will be hard for others. She made a brave decision that was best for her and they were happy to operate!

Thank you for your comment Libbie but in this case the Norfolk and Norwich was prepared to do my operation on a 35 degree curve and, by the time of the operation, I found that it had gotten to 48 degrees anyway and therefore definitely needed surgery. Px
