This city's infrastructure sucks BIG TIME. The only thing it is good for is the skyscraper it has. Otherwise, there are so many emerging cities in India like Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Vellore, Chennai, Pune, Kolkate, etc... There are so many other cities that are much better than Mumbai.

i am sure back then in mumbai, there were a lot of brahmins who were orthodox, who were vegetarians. Now india has become more progressive, so not many are following the culture as much as early 20th century

There wasn't much content about Mumbai itself. Just an image of Gateway of India and Taj Mahal hotel (which look the same in 1932 as they did now). The race course too (assuming its the one at Mahalaxmi looks much the same except for the patrons today). Should have walked the streets (and some Irani restaurants) instead of showing bird tricks and a fishing village! Sorry the commentator saw nothing of BOM-BAY!

Hey Guys ... There has been many comments about the name Mumbai and Bombay....It was always Mumbai..... forget the Marathi people ask the Gujratis they also called Mumbai..Mumbai= Mumba (Goddess)+ Bai (Lady) so anyone who would travel in that direction they would say i am travelling towards that lady or Mumbai.. very logically the name registered..I am not Maharastrian nor Gujrathi and still love the Mumbai name and like it...The country which i live in call all indians MUMBAYEE from centuries.

I lived in Bombay from my birth in 1952 through 1973 and can still remember the uncrowded streets and the victorias waiting at Apollo Pier, people wearing hats or phetas. Great contribution by the uploader!

Excellent film documentary!! When the city's population was 1 million in 1932 the Parsis were 50,000. Today the city's population is around 18 million and the Parsis are 30,000. To those who ask why Bombay (Mumbai) is not as clean and beautiful as it was in 1932? You now have your answer.
