I don't mean to be so harsh, but when i was little, i was watching Jim Henson create new episodes, not re-runs. While Sesame Street still maintains it's integrity, because of the wonderful people involved, Disney bought the rights to the Muppets and have been exploiting it ever since. I do not believe for a second that, if he were still alive, Jim Henson would ask this little girl to perform on The Muppet Show. Let's meet in 10 years and see if you still like this.

I'm with you when you say this is hardly what Jim Henson would even think of doing with his creations, this is pretty much THE most questionable thing Disney's done with Kermit and gang. The only thing lower than that is the (I believe) brief period where they thought it'd be smart if they hired understudy performers for public appearances and such. As much as I'd love for them to wise up and release Seasons 4 + 5 of the classic Muppet Show and stuff such as that, I'm not COMPLETELY against everything Disney's done with the Muppets. I like the "Virmup" videos one can find on Youtube, I find that one of the BETTER things they've done. Plus, at least Disney's been smart enough to let Sesame Street keep Kermit's classic bits. THAT'S a big save for me, it would KILL me if Kermit was taken from Sesame cuz of Disney!

This is most definitely NOT what Jim had in mind and these are NOT the real Muppets. None of those puppets are the originals. The Henson company selling to Disney had nothing to do with Jim. Disney is not the LEAST bit concerned with maintaining the integrity of Jim's legacy and life's work. The best thing we can do to maintain Jim's legacy is to continue to promote the work that he left us by broadcasting the old shows, or at least selling them on DVD. Disney won't even do that properly.

The guest star would perform the music live with the band. In the new show, all the music is taken from the CD and the "star" lip-synchs their performance. Take Sesame Street as a study in contrast. The Children's Television Workshop still produces Sesame Street. They have consistently held true to Jim's vision of quality, educational television for kids. Disney could care less. That is why they horde their old, classic films like the greedy misers that they are. They release DVD's of movies like Snow White for limited times only, then "put them back in the vault" as a marketing ploy. If they cared, those movies would always be for sale.
