  • The circle things are the Myelin Sheath right? I just want to make sure because I have a G.A.T.E neuron project to do.

  • YO THANKS MAN BEENING GETING TROBLE IN SCHOOL WITH WORK UNTILL NOW MAN YO CAN I GET IN CONTACT WITH U BRO?

  • 160,827th!!!

  • Is there another video that follows this one?

  • I am very happy to see the vidoe after you give this Introduction to the neuron and its anatomy

  • I Love The Video It Can Increase My Knowledge Introduction to the neuron and its anatomy

  • Steady I Really Like This Video Introduction to the neuron and its anatomy

  • Good, I like that you share this video, I wish success always Introduction to the neuron and its anatomy

  • what's the difference between dendron and dendrite??

  • Nice Video That You Share , So Very Nice Thanks You Introduction to the neuron and its anatomy

  • I Really Like The Video From Your Introduction to the neuron and its anatomy

  • Your Video Is Very Useful Sharing Introduction to the neuron and its anatomy

  • thanks for helping me. i needed it for my project.

  • i wish i new about this 5 years ago......

  • I wish I had you as a teacher ;__;

  • Gngg

  • neurons should just get along =\

  • what type of program are you using?

  • I so wish I'd found this resource at the begining of my nursing studies.

  • thank you so much i used this video to help study for my psychology test next period :]

-highschool senior current A in psych

  • You can't see the video

  • Have to make a Neuron and talk about it at school, Perfect overview of the Neuron! THANKS :-)

  • you are a very good computer drawer! i cannot do anything close to as good as you! lol very helpful! thanks

  • first psychology test tomorrow, definitely going to pass every part about the neuron. Thanks

  • I'm using this to teach my undergrads about the anatomy of the neuron, THANK YOU!!! :D

  • thank you

  • Thank you so very much for all the effort put into these videos, they've been a HUGE help in my studies..... :-)

  • Thank you so much!!! You explained this better than my anatomy teacher, who drives me crazy because she can't teach for crap. I like the way you simplified it =0)

  • Neuron is the number one cell!

  • LOL is it just me or is it spelt neurone and not neuron?

  • @EvilEyEbRoWzz Most people consider both acceptable and interchangeable though there has (and continues to be) debate, e.g. " “NEURONE” OR “NEURON.” ", W. M. Bayliss, Br Med J. 1916 June 24; 1(2895): 888.

  • @EvilEyEbRoWzz It's you.

  • @attickdemos

hah -_- it depends if your american or not

  • @EvilEyEbRoWzz Oh I didn't know that.

  • Wish you were my teacher! all the videos are great.

  • A myelin sheath is an 'outgrowth' of schwann cells in the peripheral nervous system (PNS) ONLY and can only provide a segment of myelin sheath around a single axon whereas in the central nervous system (CNS) myelin sheath is provided by oligodendrocytes, which can provide myelin sheath around many axons (up to 40 or 50). Additionally there are neurons without a myelin sheath. (Oligodendrocytes and schwann cells are types of glial cells).

  • i got a psychology test shortly and this really helps thanks

  • Did anyone else get the feeling it ends pretty abruptly?

  • @hedonism13 Just like life!

  • Perfect

  • You should give my bio teacher some drawing lessons.

  • the volume is so low. ;l

  • @lovevsabsence nevermind. headphones. lols.

  • I love your introductions

  • y de neuronz can only hold memory?

  • sir can u explain me about neural crest cells ,neuro blasts, development of neural tube.please explain me CNS from Langman's book of embryology.I would be thankful to you.

  • So neuron is a cell and it consists of cells (the schwann cells)?

  • u are top teacher as well as top writer

  • u are the top teacher as we

  • I agree with Mr. Gates -- You are a pioneer! Bravo.

  • like you are a bumbling professor can't even spell right easy to understand and not boring 13z

  • hahaha got some problems with the spelling of some words xD

Like it you are a good teacher

this was really helpful for my anatomy class!

  • awesome! thx

  • i love you!!! excellent teacher!

  • ur an awesome teacher, keep it up

  • can i just say...THAT I LOVE YOU! ur videos rock!

  • the one single person who dislikes this video has one single neuron in his head.

  • how are you doing the nice drawing? I cant write a word with my mouse, but you arent using a drawpad are you?

  • thanks, great video

  • Sal,

You are correct in that the nodes of Ranvier are named after the man who discovered them. However, they are not pronounced "ran - veer". Rather, it is pronounced "ron - vee - ay" after the French histologist Louis-Antoine Ranvier.

  • I think it helps to understand the material when the teacher has a clear speaking voice, such as yourself.

  • thanks!!!!! may I suggest an upload of how neural networks work (process information in our brains)) **** I'm more of a visual learner and you do such a great job

  • excellent teacher! :) you sound like youre enjoying the subject your teaching and you make it sound so fun :) i well enjoyed the this video! :)

hope i ace my moc test tomorrow! :)

  • Your biology videos are your best videos.

  • Wow. That's all i can say. You just helped me in ways you don't know. You're a really good teacher.

  • nodes of ranvier, at least try to pronounce it properly

  • ahhh you are sooooo helpful!!!!! thank you!!!

  • I just took my Finals in Neuroscience 1. Hope I found your videos earlier because their all very inforomative and simplistic. Easier to understand as well.

  • thanks for uploading videos like this:)

  • YOU MAKE ME PASS BIOLOGY

  • I could watch your videos all day long, I feel lucky to have stumbled upon your teachings and avidly enjoy them.

  • very wonderful

  • LOL, BIO HOMEWORK

  • When the neuron fires an ouput signal does it make all the terminals to fire or just some of them? Thanks!

  • Good video - just one thing. The myelin sheath are Schwann cells in the peripheral nervous system, but in the central nervous system, they are oligodendrocytes. There are a few differences between them (oligodendrocytes are inhibitory and wrap around multiple axons), though the principle is the same.

  • Thanks for putting it on the net!

  • Does this Kahn guy know "everything"? He must be one of those genius types that hears or sees something, immediately comprehends and absorbs, then can pontificate like an expert. Life must be a breeze--sigh.

  • Hey what happened to the ending? ):

  • wow.. thanks for making this video cos i've learnt a lot and your lesson is interesting but you didn't mention about the dendrons..

  • You're an excellent teacher

  • @ebonyamberjade Yes he is :)) i needed this for a motor neuron model :))

  • I thought that this was an abrupt ending

    Don't you?

  • The Biology series is by far, at least to me the most interesting playlist. Not too detailed, but advance and clear enough to understand the basic function of a system. thanks :)

  • Do you write down on paper and practice what you're going to lecture about? Your lectures run so smoothly and so naturally.

  • no. he lives simultaneously in four dimensions in space time so practice is not necessary.

  • i loved this subject

    well done, sal!
